I think it has more to do with the off-field structure at Alabama, myself. It seems like Saban does a great job keeping his players in line for the most part, almost so much so that they have difficulty doing the right things to be successful on their own as pros.
Had someone like Rolando McClain gone to a LSU, UF, or UGA, I suspect he would have flamed out well before he made it to the pros. The upside of that would have been the chance to grow from that experience and recover his career, similar to what Isaiah Crowell has done.
That's all pure speculation on my part.

This is easy to explain. Better coaching at the college level.

Because they are used to having that great supporting cast around them. Bama usually has all these big names, good players, all americans and what not. On both sides of the ball. They are ranked highly because they only have to compensate for their part and their part only. Easy to shine when you have a lot of talent around you. But when you go to a average team is when you get exposed. I'm telling you. Watch out for AJ. I think he's gonna be the biggest bust in this class, CJ Mosely, I think he can hold him and I think he's gonna do his thing in the league.

We had the worst #1 pick ever. That's really Al's fault, but it makes this thread silly and moot. I dont agree with OP's assertion anyway. It's based mostly on 2 running backs. Poor sampling.

You have to have expectations to be a bust. No one outside Bama fans (who rightfully support a former player) think the guy will have a great NFL career. If that is the case how can he be a bust?

Wasnt there a thread that was on the front page for like 3 days that proved that they both had the same amount of success?

The factual premise of the OP is faulty to begin with. I don't fault you, OP, it's a common misperception that is perpetuated on this board. The misperception is caused mostly because Saban is simply a better coach that better maximizes his player's talents in college than does Miles. Consequently, LSU players often come out with lower expectations (and lower draft positions) even though though they are every bit as talented as Bama players. They have more unrealized potential to be tapped by the good coaching they receive in the NFL.
There is not some wide variance in NFL production between Bama and LSU players. It's just a perception difference because people like the OP expect greatness from Bama players because they have already seen it. On the other hand they are pleasantly (or maybe not pleasantly) surprised to see that those LSU players were just as good but they just didn't reach that potential under Miles.

Yes, added below.
The reality of the matter is both of these schools produce far more 1st round picks than pretty much any other school in the country and given the NFL Draft is still a crap shoot, they will have a larger number of busts. In saying that, % wise each school has the same number of busts as any other school.
I have put the players who I believe have been successful in bold. The others either have not lived up to expectations or the jury is still out on.

Never understood why anyone thought Sam was anything but average to begin with. And undersized.

This is the biggest myth on the SEC Rant and around football circles in general.
We've had 14 players drafted in the first round of the NFL draft since Saban took over, and all but 3 of them are starters on their respective teams. We've also got numerous late rounders who are doing quite well, including undrafted free agents who have started for their NFL team.
Give this crap a rest.

3. Saban overworks his players (RB's especially) in NCAA and they are burnt when they get to NFL. (this is silly imo)
Sorta comical he tried the player safety angle to stop the HUNH recently.

Alabama routinely plays 3 RBs a game and only wants them to get a certain number of carries a game.
I guess poor Tre Mason is so run down after last year his career is already over?
