Now that Dak has left and considering the fact that Mississippi State is currently 12th in the SEC in recruiting...Will MSU take a major step back from their recent success?

I honestly can't believe Mullen stayed. In my opinion, things could become grim in the next two to three years.

I think they'll continue to win 6 to 8 regular season games per year, with the occasional shot at a trip to ATL. He's a good coach, and they'll have a decent football team for as long as he's allowed to stay there.

Hopefully, the State fans don't get too spoiled, and send him packing because of the elevated expectations that he set.

He tried everything to get out, that should tell you all you need to know.

I think Mullen is a good coach but they are about to slide back big time. Dak was that good.

Nothing will change. They'll run through the gauntlet of Alcorn States they schedule every year, upset an SEC team or two, make a shite bowl, and within the next few years they'll erect a statue of the humpback in front of DWS.

If there was ever a year to leave, this was it.

With that said, he's a MSU lifer IMO.

SS Atlanta ship has sailed for a while. Bowl eligible while playing the big Bama tough should be respectable.

I really don't think there was any legit interest in him, which is strange because he could be a very good coach in the ACC. His lack of signature wins meant teams weren't willing to pay 4m+ to get him.

We're done, I got a check in the mail refunding my tuition for this semester, and all campus offices have been closed. Sarah McLachlan "I Will Remember You" is currently playing on Davis Wade's PA system as everyone hugs out their tearful goodbyes. It was a good run, I'm just glad we're going out as Belk Bowl Champs.

Although they are losing Dak they should still have a good team next year as they return a large majority of their players. They will have like 25 to 30 seniors in their 2 deep next year. 2017 could be a struggle

We have some good young players. Expectations evolve around recruitment and development of an OL along the development of Fitzgerald. I wish we could do something with the OL coach but that is unlikely. We travel to UMas and to BYU next year. Don't ask me why. Not sure what happens with the DC. That's always a crap shoot. I wish he would surprise us with some JC OLs but I don't follow recruiting yet. I could see next year as a real struggle but I could see 7 or 8 wins if the west struggling teams continue to struggle. OM loses a lot so not sure that's an auto loss yet.

We could win 8 regular season games again in '16. Fitzgerald and Staley will have more playmakers than Dak had this past season, with an improved OL. Both are better throwers and one has quicker feet, too.

What we don't know is how effective either candidate will be as a team leader, especially when things go wrong. But I like how our qb's are gonna step in at 6'7, 6'5, and 6'5. The best one starts, so any hopes for our demise will likely leave some disappointed.

We will take a step back at QB next year, but I think we are better there than we were at any time prior to Dak. The group of guys vying for the starting job are big and can pass, and they fit pretty well into what Mullen wants in a QB. Hopefully one of the 4 will step up and win the job outright.

I fully expect the experts to pick us last in the West again. That is the only prediction that I will make.

No one knew who Dak was before his Junior year. We'll be fine at QB & win another 7-9 games.

South Alabama - W
USC - W
@ LSU - L
@ UMass - W
Auburn - W
@ BYU - W
Kentucky - W
Samford - W
Texas A&M - W
@ Bama - L
Arkansas - W
@ OM - L

9-3 (5-3). But will be picked for last in west again, but like always, Dan's team won't finish last.

We are going to revert back to a 6-6/7-5 team for at least a couple years.

Next year we get South Carolina and Kentucky from the East - we'll be no worse than either of them.

The interesting thing next year is that we have a losable non-conference game at BYU. If we do lose in Provo, we'll have to pick up an SEC upset to get to six. Road games at LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss aren't winnable. So, Arkansas or A&M in Starkville?

All that to say - the six year bowl streak for MSU is up for watch next year. No room for error in the winnable games, but Mullen has generally won the games he's supposed to.

I'd have to go with Arkansas or A&M being last, at the moment. A&M could implode next season. Auburn who knows.
