Just make it a couple super conferences and be done with this dog and pony BS. That’s where this is going, let’s cut out the couple years of BS and just get down to it.

I want my team to become an independent. Schedule whoever they want, lost to Northern Illinois and still host a playoff game in the best spot at #5.

That, or, the SEC should just do a ranking themselves in the Spring and give the top 6 the easiest schedule possible

14 teams is inevitable. I heard it was essentially finalized.

I'm for reduction in playoff games over expansion.

It won't happen obviously, but there are already a lot of teams that I don't think should even have a shot at the playoffs who'll get a shot this year (including UGA) I don't think adding a bunch of 3 loss and even 4 loss teams will make it better.

Win less than 75% of your games and still win a national title? Doesn't feel right to me.

Clearly what we don’t need is more playoff teams

ETA: we don’t have 12 this year. We’ve never had 12 that deserve it.

-Move the season back a week (make week 0, week 1)
-With two weekends before the NFL starts, you have 9 days of prime time TV slots now available.
-Get rid of conference title games
-16 team playoff
-Seed the teams 1-16
-Higher seed gets a home game
-Have 4 games on the Friday after Thanksgiving
-Have another 4 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
-Have 4 games on the following Saturday (what is now conference championship weekend)
-Play the Final 4 in bowls
-Title game on January 8th
-Spread the playoffs across all the networks so that everyone has a reason to promote college football all season.

Just that simple.

I never liked that a team had nothing to play for after a couple of losses. For example, you schedule a big name team out of conference and lose in early September, then lose a close rivalry game or whatever, finish 10-2 and all you have is a meaningless bowl game. There’s no other team sport in the world where a team with that kind of winning percentage wouldn’t have a chance to play for a title.

The problem is unbalanced schedules. A Big10 or ACC schedule is nothing compared to SEC schedule. Then there’s the Boise States of the world. Nice team but just not on the same level and taking someone else’s spot.

So if there was a 30-40 team division of tier 1 schools that were organized into divisions, then a playoff from there, that would work.

Hell the high schools here in Texas have it figured out. 8 team districts, top 2 teams in each make playoffs, and off they go.

Well..... there's an idea that's never been mentioned. Fricking OP has either been living under a rock or smoking rocks.
