I just dont understand how other fans can equally or place greater emphasis on a bad loss or a good loss than SOS or a good win, just my 2 cents.

It isn't that fans place equal or greater emphasis on bad losses vs. good losses/good wins, it's that the CFP Committee places greater emphasis on bad losses vs. good losses/good wins. It's the chief reason we were left out last year despite being one of the best overall teams in the country. We were top 3 in both PPG scored and PPG allowed and were left out because we lost a head-scratcher to Kentucky.

We would have destroyed a team like Indiana last season, but they were 11-1 and we were 9-3, so they got the nod over us. Just the way it works right now.

Is it though? Wins over Vandy, A&M and OU who will all be in

Let’s say Duke wins ACC, Troy wins Sun Belt(unlikely), Georgia wins SEC, Ohio State wins B1G

1. Ohio State
2. Georgia
3. Texas Tech/Indiana
4. Texas Tech/Indiana
5. Oregon
6. Ole Miss
7. A&M
8. OU
9. Notre Dame
10. Vandy
11. Texas/Miami
12. Tulane/North Texas

Texas path to the title game could easily be Lane-less Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Texas A&M/Vandy

Which is very sad for the sport we can all agree we love.

No meaningful (or significantly less) games until October is what we are about to see and that really sucks, I hate thats what is about to happen.

You do realize that Duke or Virginia have to be included in the field right?

Blows your entire hypothetical up before you even got started.

So we're going to talk about those two games but completely ignore the mid-November skullfricking in Athens?

On the morning of 11/15, you were ranked 10th with complete control of your future.

Like Alabama did against Oklahoma last year, you screwed the pooch in November. THAT'S what is keeping you out.

Truly hope they change it, doubt they will though.

I agree with you that Texas needed to sweep the final three games of GA, Arky, and Aggy. They controlled their own destiny.

In all of these discussions on if Texas (or other teams) should continue with a strong OOC schedule, the common rebuttal is that the Ohio State loss is not the issue. The issue is the loss to Florida. My point here is that the Ohio State loss did in fact make an impact as you look at the polls.

Texas road resume

lost by 7 at 1 Ohio State, 12-0, 9-0 B10
lost by 8 at Florida, 4-8, 2-6 SEC
won by 3 at Kentucky (OT), 5-7, 2-6 SEC
won by 7 at Miss St (OT), 5-7, 1-7 SEC
lost by 25 at Georgia, 11-1, 7-1 SEC

nobody's saying Texas will be left out for losing close at Ohio St. it's losing at a 4-8 Florida team, then squeaking past two bad SEC teams with a combined 3 conference wins, then getting your doors blown off in Athens

To me anyway, it's the overall performance in true road games.
2-3 record. Skullfricked by UGA, ran off the field against FLA; and the two wins were OT games against two teams that combined for 3 conference wins.
Texas was simply a very bad team once away from DKR (and Dallas); and the committee is supposed to look at things like this.

It’s highest ranked 5 conference champs, in that scenario there are only 4 total ranked conference champs in the country. All the others would be unranked, meaning only 4 get bids

They’re likely not ranking a 5 loss Duke or 4 loss Troy in the top 25 even as their respective conference champs
