Which from my perspective is a positive indicator that baseball is unique among college sports and hopefully will not be dominated by the NIL highest bidder for the best talent which is what has happened in football and basketball.

There’s so much parity in the sport of baseball already then when you throw in NIL where rosters get spread thin rather than stacked because guys are ate going somewhere to get paid to start rather than riding pine on top tier SEC rosters then this is what you get.

It’s made for a very entertaining regionals though and popularity should continue to grow. Big 3 men’s sport status confirmed

I've made fun of LSU fans for using starting late on recruiting as a reason for their fall this year.

Maybe there is something to it in the NIL/portal era. Half of that field wasn't even playing this weekend.

Will monitor this going forward.

Because the baseball tournament is fun but a terrible way to crown a champion.

The best team rarely wins it all.

This is just baseball in general. The purest form, when in MLB you just had one playoff series between the champion of each league, gave us the best champions.

Yes, now that Vanderbilt lost their ability to cheat, they're just another also-ran. Good to see.

And only Tennessee, Virginia, & NC State have been eliminated from the 2024 CWS though that number could grow today with A&M, Florida, Florida State, & Kentucky all facing elimination.

A&M is basically done, we need to score 15 runs to have a shot, our pitching was on Empty 2 games ago

You got to think the other teams' staff is in a similar boat. Nobody has a rested staff on a Monday regional game.

UGA probably works the least hard for the amount of success we have had historically. Wes is the right coach and ATL is the right market for tons of hs talent...

Hard to say he worked the least hard this past offseason with what he's put together.

The NCAA Basketball Tournament is the same way.

There's a reason that the professional entities crown their champions after multiple best-of-7 series. They understand that one game isn't the best way to determine the best team in baseball and basketball.

Baseball is at least a little closer by giving teams a way of overcoming a loss.

Have some bad news for you

Throw in the uncertainty of the draft for both your high school recruits and your current players, college baseball roster management is a shitshow

Since LSU didn’t make it, I found myself pulling for Arkansas Razorbacks baseball. They’ve had so much heartbreak and bad luck in the NCAA Tournament over the years that I was hoping this would finally be the season they broke through and won it all.

There is a portal timing window problem as well for teams in/going to Omaha

correct. Portal opens June 1. CWS doesn't even start for almost 2 weeks after the portal opens. And if you do well in Omaha, you're looking at 3+ weeks post portal before you can really get on the road recruiting or have portal guys come visit your staff on campus

Yeah, baseball is crazy.

You probably have a list of 100 prospects; the best guys, you recruit, but expect most of them will sign and never come to campus.
The 1-3 you do get from that group that you do get, they need a lot of work to get ready, and may not perform (think Mavrick Rizi at LSU, he's been a mess).

You build the team from the next group, who are good but not great.

You now toss NIL into that equation, and it really gets crazy... do you try to outbid a high pick and hope he'd rather play on campus instead of the minors for a couple years, or do you load up more with the 2nd tier? And can you load up if a ton of SEC programs and other prominent Southern and Western baseball teams with some cash decide they also want to chase?
