2 seems high for us because we lost a lot..but we have great players and a proven coach..I was expecting 7-10

Wasn't expecting #2, but even after losing the backcourt with what we brought in we should be no lower than top 5. A legit chance to repeat with this roster.

We've got a hell of an OOC schedule, so we will be more than tested to get the right lineups in place by SEC play. Can't wait to watch this unfold.

Hard to upgrade from a guy with Jordanesque crunchtime results.

Will just assume State is a feisty borderline Top 25 team and borderline .500 in the SEC team under Jans until proven otherwise.

With Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama right up there.

The new normal is still a reality.

Alabama and Auburn both playing brutally rough schedules. We also have 5 OOC games (minimum) against ranked competition, including 2 teams in the top 5. 11 games (minimum) against ranked opponents.

Get in line, most of the better teams seem to be doing this.

Arkansas has #3 Houston, #6 Louisville, #10 Duke, #11 Texas Tech and Michigan State on the road for good measure. Three top 10 and four top 15 teams in the non con.

The problem is that there are probably 13-14 SEC teams that would make the tournament and be ranked in the Top 25 if they didn’t have to play each other… at least that was the case last season.

Torvik’s preseason rankings for the SEC are as follows:

5. Florida
13. Tennessee
14. Kentucky
16. Arkansas
20. Alabama
21. Vanderbilt
26. Missouri
27. Auburn
32. Oklahoma
33. Georgia
35. Texas
37. Texas A&M
40. Miss St
43. Ole Miss
66. LSU
107. South Carolina

Arkansas has…

It’s good to see the Hogs finally upgrade their schedule. Their OOC the last couple of years has been horrendously weak.

Not really, top 10 Baylor, top 15 Michigan and top 25 Illinois last year.

Last season, Arky played three Quad 1 OOC opponents. Auburn played seven. Bama played five.

What’s worse was the high number of absolute cream puffs. Arkansas played seven Quad 4 OOC opponents…. That’s extremely high. Auburn played four… Bama just two.

Over half of the Hogs OOC opponents last season were Quad 4.

Last seasons NET OOC SOS rankings by team:

8- Auburn
9- Alabama
36- Texas A&M
46- Kentucky
71- Ole Miss
128- Miss St
129- Tennessee
143- Oklahoma
175- Arkansas
220- Georgia
227- Missouri
234- South Carolina
262- Florida
272- LSU
287- Texas
330- Vanderbilt

As the Bama poster said previously… Bama and Auburn have really led the way in scheduling tough OOC opponents in recent years.

Again… this is far short of the quality teams played by Auburn and Bama.

OOC games by AU, AL, and ARK last season by NET Ranking:

#1 Duke- Auburn played
#3 Houston- Auburn played
#9 Iowa St- Auburn played
#17 Illinois- Bama played
#17 Illinois- Arkansas played
#19 Purdue- Auburn played
#19 Purdue- Bama played
#23 Michigan- Arkansas played
#29 Oregon- Bama played
#30 Baylor- Arkansas played
#36 UNC- Auburn played
#36 UNC- Bama played
#38 Creighton- Bama played
#41 Ohio St- Auburn played
#49 Memphis- Auburn played
#58 McNeese- Bama played
#77 Rutgers- Bama played
#84 Lipscomb- Arkansas played
#94 Arkansas St- Bama played
#99 Troy- Arkansas played

Top 10 Opponents played:
3- Auburn
0- Alabama
0- Arkansas

Top 25 Opponents played:
4- Auburn
2- Alabama
2- Arkansas

Top 50 Opponents played:
7- Auburn
5- Alabama
3- Arkansas

Top 75 Opponents played:
7- Auburn
6- Alabama
3- Arkansas

Top 100 Opponents played:
8- Alabama
7- Auburn
5- Arkansas

Auburn’s schedule was significantly more difficult than Arkansas’. Auburn played as many OOC opponents in the Top 9 as Arkansas did in the Top 83.
