Texas lost big to a second year head coach ever and a team full of mediocre players.

We did. Last year. In year 1 with a depleted roster. Year 2 will be even better. Didn't arky go like 1-11 three years ago?

Probably because half of his yards and over half of his TD's were to the same player. Not mentioning he only had about 3 or 4 passing touchdowns to players still on the roster. Hard to replace virtually an entire starting receiver unit. Not saying he can't be great again this year, but having Treylon, and two other seniors starting definitely helped him last year. Not hating, just saying.

I count something like double that but maybe I'm wrong

Yeah I didn't really count runningbacks so it is like 6 or 7, but the point remains about WR production loss. I think Warren Thompson is the top returner with two TD.

Hmmm, well you should because that is an important factor in Briles' offense
The hope as well is Hazelwood will stay healthy and show why he was ranked so high out of high school. No one is replacing Burks, the idea would be the unit as a whole gets better.
Plus alot of KJ success in throwing the ball will be determined by how effective the run game continues to be going forward.

Thompson will end up losing his spot later next year. Arkansas played Penn State without Burks and he was open in the end zone one play and allowed a DB to get in front of him for an interception. Arkansas struggled throwing the ball without Burks and had to run the ball.

We're going to be really, really good this year. But our schedule is ridiculous. How did we end up with Cincinnati and BYU in OOC? Even in good years, somehow we always end up playing close against the crap school from Oxford. We've also played a lot of close games with MSU lately. That's 4 tough games, before you even talk about Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M. Heck, even Liberty with Freeze is no pushover.

Okay, each returning back has one receiving TD. I think the hogs are going to continue to take steps in the right direction, I just find it hard to believe they will be "better" losing their best player in a decade and all of the DL and 2 of 3 LB. Although the portal helped those holes get filled, continuity was a large part of last years squad.

Haselwood is no Burks. All of the KJ "throw it up and pray" throws to Burks this year is gone. If you watch the film from behind the offense, he is a very poor decision maker with an average arm

The fact that the name Arkansas is even being throw around in this thread is hilarious when you read the title

Jefferson only had four picks. 21 TD passes and six on the ground.

Better as a WR unit? Probably not but its hard to deny what is coming back on offense outside of Burks which is obviously important.
DLine is probably my biggest concern overall.

It certainly was but some good portal additions were needed last year as well

John Ridgeway is a big loss and the Dline has bodies but they have been underwhelming.

Agreed. I pretty much said this in my previous post. Pittman is fantastic. He will have Arkansas at 8-4 consistently. Anyone thinking he is going to contend for the playoffs while playing in this conference is dreaming until he starts pulling top 10 classes. That is just the reality. Arkansas fans can downvote all they want. No team from this conference is making the playoffs without that level of recruiting.

I think most hog fans don't expect him to make a playoff appearance but get Arkansas back to bowling each year. If he avoids the losing seasons, wins the bowl games and don't pull a Houston Nutt then he is a success here.

I think it’s attainable for Pittman. I think part of the issue is the fact that Arkansas isn’t as talent rich as a state as some of the other SEC schools. That’s a hurdle that can’t really change, but Pittman has made Arkansas a lot more attractive to recruits for sure.
