It's almost like ESPN has financial incentive to put as many SEC teams in their SOS as possible. embarrassing look.

Good thing they don't own media rights to 3 of the 4 biggest conferences....

This holds more water if:
1. the NFL draft doesn’t validate the elite talent contained in the SEC every year.
2, the recruiting ranking services all have the SEC #1 every year in depth.
3. Other ranking systems have the SEC well regarded.

It's really just the huge mistake of adding OU and UT to the conference, making it too unlikely to get more than 3 teams to 10-2.

As a fan, I guess you get more good games on the schedule, but then you have teams whose weaknesses have been exposed due to playing too may tough opponents and being soft like OU and Bama. Or A&M, who is on the downswing by the end of the season and chokes like always. So we get embarrassed and you’re relying on an upstart like ‘Ol Miss beat the best teams in the country, when their head coach doesn’t even want to stick around b/c well it’s ‘Ol Miss.

I love how SEC fans have to bring opinions every time to show strength. Recruiting rankings are opinions. Preseason rankings are opinion.
The only fans n any sport who beat their chest about opinion rankings are SEC football fans. The only rankings that matter are playoff results that can’t be manipulated.
In 2025, the AP preseason poll had Miami ranked 10th and Indiana ranked 20th. The top 6 teams in the preseason ranking were Texas, Penn St, Ohio St, Clemson, Georgia, and ND. Not one of them even made the semi final games.
And yet here you guys are again beating your chest over preseason polls.
How many years will it take for SEC football fans to become normal like every other sport and not have to pretend. I predict 1 team ranked in the top 4 in the preseason poll will make the Final Four.

The SEC doesn’t need to bring up the Big 10 or ACC or Big 12. The Big 10, ACC and Big 12 need to bring up the SEC constantly. Even on this board, you guys can’t stop comparing, and then act like you guys aren’t. Calm down and learn to sell your conferences without adding ours.

It is The SEC Rant..So surely you will get more attention talking about the SEC. Seems kind of obvious...or you just compliment LSU, Burrow, or say Lane Kiff is like Kirby Smart, Urban Meyes, Jim Harbough, Nick Saban combined and will very easily win 4 or 5 National Titles in his 17 year career at LSU(obviously he retires there)

I freaking love SEC football. I’m a southern guy and grew up with it. Then I went to an ACC school and realized they have pretty good sports too. But I’m also an honest poster and call BS when I see it. Having ESPN in bed with the SEC is detrimental to the sport as it creates biases that should not exist in sports. Sports should be about on field performance only not opinion. Yet the preseason polls always prop up the SEC. They had Indiana ranked 20th in preseason and then they ran thru their season in similar fashion to what we saw LSU do under Burrow. Why were they 20th? Because they aren’t SEC.
I can’t wait for all these great games in the SEC but I also know their are good games all over the country.

My main issue with it is it's really slow to adjust a team down much that starts taking multiple bad losses. In one of Napiers years it was still saying we were pretty strong despite us looking really bad out there.

This is the entertainment buisness.
If true equity mattered no ranking would come out until week 5.
Until then, how would you assess a team since their final game of last season? The only rational response is you’d look at their influx of talent, particularly the QB.
If you do that, you’ll come to the same conclusion. I’d rather they assess on talent influx than giving every conference DEI placements.
