Maybe they should run an atheist ad to balance it out.
"We atheists, let's join together to celebrate the season of...ummm, errrr........................................................................................ have a good day."

I figure we all should avoid allowing a commercial on a TV network to allow offending our religious (or lack of) sensibilities.

It's threads like this that remind what a vast wasteland the rant becomes in the off season. I really need to find a better off season hobby.

I'm Jewish and would find a pro Jesus commercial upsetting. Why can't they just say g-d and make it no denominational?

I'm no atheist. Also, I would prefer them run an ad that showed the homo population in the Mississippi Delta to prove to you they exist. It was you who said that, right?

Frick everybody who get their jimmies rustled too easily. Political correctness bullshite will ruin this country. If you produce a commercial with Jesus in it, run it, Frick 'em. If you want to whine because Jesus isn't in a commercial or because he is, quit your damn whining.
The fact is that this nation is full of whiners. I'm whining right now. But nobody will do a damn thing except whine. It's alright to blast Wal-Mart for their Chinese chicken patties and their shirts made in Honduras and their Socks made in sweat shops in India. But you still shop there. But do something about it. Let your actions speak for you.
This nation is full of people who's actions don't match their whining. Which makes them a whiner, not an activist, but more like a hypocrite. If you don't like abortions, don't have one. If you don't believe in god, don't go to church. If you don't like McDonald's paying low wages don't eat there.
If you don't like the Christmas tree don't call it one. But don't get offended when someone calls it a Christmas tree, because that's what it is to that person. If you don't like the gays then don't associate with them, let them be.
If you don't like Obama, vote for someone else. But to not vote and then bitch about it is absurd. If you think entitlement spending is out of control, don't accept them. I was out of work for nearly a year. I had to make sacrifices. I didn't go get unemployment or food stamps, because I don't believe in those programs, but it wasn't about pride, it was about doing what I believe in instead of just bitching about it while advantage of it.

The problem is the diatribe the OP made, and his Whiskey Bent level of overthinking. Just no religious stuff at all. We need to train people to just turn off their Jesus brains when they log in.

I just want to be able to respond to shite like this with "RELIGION BOARD!"
Admittedly your solution could work, Fawxie, even though it is a bit optimistic to believe it could be done.

I can condition people at this place very well, I just have to set out to do it from the beginning. I am a puppet master of sorts. Scrooster has revealed a few ignorant things about thinking the Christians pay more in taxes and don't receive disproportionate amounts of welfare. I can easily shift the argument to politics in the future with him, but that prevents another problem entirely. Hmmm. Now I'm starting to see your point.

Good for the SEC. Fricke ESPN for not running that ad just because it's Pro-Jesus. We need more conservatives running shite in this country.

And I love when Christians try to voice their moral superiority to Islam when both religions have the same origins. Your praying to the same god, why does it matter how you do it?
In Biblical Christianity, the god-man Jesus motivated by love died as a criminal by crucifixion as a propitiation for man's sins to a perfectly holy God. This is the very cornerstone of Christianity. It is anathema to Islam.
I realize that some consider this foreign to this board. However, it was the sports network that spawned the religious discussion.

Moral equivalency has nothing to do with the question a hand though, does it? And Islam talks about Jesus and Mary a lot, to say that Christianity isn't one of the primary sources, if not the sole source, of moral guidance would be very ignorant.
I guess you could repeat "the question." I was repsonding to another post where it was implied that Christianity and Islam were equivalents.
My simple point is that the two are fundamentally different on just about every level. They have very different histories, legacies, and theologies. Not the same. And their roles in America's founding and freedoms are not worth comparison. A society where Islam has matured is very different from our pluralistic society.
