Because the proof of it gets buried in paperwork. I myself know people that have been in the same room at car dealerships when mark Ingram and Julio jones and all them, dre Kirkpatrick, where they got those dodge chargers from. They were at a car dealership in Boaz Alabama. Young motors to be exact. He would doctor the financial stuff to make it look like person A had this car, when really mark Ingram had the car. Or Julio Jones had the car. I've actually seen the pictures of them being up there. So yes, bama players were getting benefits when they shouldn't have. Just like Texas players were. And LSU. So on and so forth. You can believe what you want too. But I know for a fact thats where they got the cars from.

If people think it’s just Saban that feels this way, they are casuals who are out of touch with the reality of college football now.

Won't anyone think of the coaches?

I am just heartbroken about these millionaire coaches, whose job was made a little bit harder because, after generations of not being paid, the workers that are getting hurt and are making the coaches filthy rich are finally being paid.

Sure, Saban signed lucrative contracts for himself. Sure, Bama and UGA and the rest of the SEC have been paying players for generations, but now that every team will pay players, this really hurts Saban's feelings.

We need to start a GoFundMe for every millionaire coach who can't escape to the NFL. My God, coaches now have to think about retaining their workers, just like every other manager and leader in every other industry. This is a crisis and I blame Trump for not diverting all of the Pandemic stimulus money to millionaire college football coaches.

The Greatest head coach in all of College Football. I respect how he handled and controlled his players on the team, and how he didn't waste his talent, but even with lesser talent than years past, he still takes the best team in the nation down to OT. One hell of a coach Bama got. Best of luck in retirement, Saban.

He actually had more talent in the final years than he ever had previously. According to recruiting rankings anyway.

I think it's more of a testament to how people act when they are hungry vs when they are getting paid. When they are hungry, they are watching tape constantly, doing everything they can to be their best so they will one day get paid in the NFL.

But when you're already sitting on a bank account with thousands and thousands of dollars in cash on a Friday night, well it's quite a bit more tempting to go out and snag some strange and party it up.

And at that age, it should generally be expected.

Hell when I was that age, I would get paid on Friday and you wouldn't see me again until I ran out of money. Last thing I wanted to do when I had cash on me was work, it was party time. It wasn't until I had a bunch of responsibility throw on me that it changed, aka I gotta pay for a place to live and food. These kids have little to no responsibility.

I would have been the biggest bust ever. But you get a hungry me and I'm the hardest worker you'll ever meet.

Reminds me of this old Bear video to incoming freshman. We had 100 talent, but they didn't play up to their potential.

LINK

Give me that hungry 3 or 4 star guy who will put in the work and play above their ability. Alabama use to have tons of those guys. I forget his name, but one time we had this undrafted FA LB who made it pretty far before getting cut. The guy was slower than most at the position, which is why he went undrafted. But he was so fast in reading the plays and taking his first step that was able to hang well beyond his physical abilities. That was all from putting in the work over the years. It paid off in college and got him a decent check in the NFL on the scout team.

Since NIL started, we got more talent but they weren't putting in that same level of work like they use to.

The only change in college football is that everyone gets to pay the players - not just bammer.

Also, everyone can cut and transfer players without media articles questioning them. Something bammer also enjoyed for decades.

He was also 72 years old. 7 to 10 years older than most people when they retire.

That probably had something to do with it.
That and why deal with the bullshite that college sports are becoming at that stage of this life?

well, and the fact he has more money than he probably even knows

70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I'm going to play because they're thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?"

Lines up perfectly with a P5 coach at a prominent school who said elite talent first asked what they’d be paid (which he said he couldn’t answer) & second how they’d be featured. Many didn’t even ask about winning.

It’s absolutely hilarious to see Saban basically admitting he doesn’t have what it takes to compete anymore.

The funniest thing about this is we all know bama was paying players before. He seemed to be able to develop players in the past when they got paid. But now that it’s legal and he has more competition, somehow paying players hurts their development.

This won’t be the last time Saban runs his mouth making cringe statements. I very much look forward to the next dumb comment he makes. All it does is make himself and bama look bad.

We can all tell stories.

Glass houses and whatnot for every team in this league. And in my experience, the ones who whine the loudest are often the ones who happen to be the most guilty.

To pretend it was only Alabama or somehow only an advantage for Saban is being willfully ignorant or just naive.

This was from an OSU board earlier this week and it seems to go really well into this re: Chip Kelly:

quote:

But he thinks there will be plenty of head coaches who follow his lead so that they can spend more time coaching football again rather than being a program CEO.

“I can't tell you how many coaches that have called me since I made this decision that said, ‘I'm two years behind you, brother,’ that are thinking the same exact way,” Kelly said.

I will also add that while I do think Saban is the GOAT, he brought some of this shite on himself in the way that he has voted over the years. It is a typical killing of the golden goose by those who should have been protecting it.

He’s 72 and went out dragging a pretty bad team by his own standards to an SEC title and an overtime loss in a national semifinal.

I hope I can go out like that in my career instead of just stealing paychecks and being dead weight holding everyone else back.

yeah, Bama was the only program that paid players pre-NIL.

If you can't see the difference in NIL and post-NIL then you are an idiot, plain and simple.

What dumb or cringe comments are you even referring to? You come across as a very bitter bitch.

Just shut up, bama had been cheating since the bear. Saban just brought it to another level. When he no longer had advantage he quit and then just whined about it.

College football as we know it died after that 2019 season, for better or worse.

NIL has empowered programs like Aggy and Ole Miss to strive to achieve more but NIL has largely done nothing to spread talent around anymore than before NIL.
