Ty preinjury was actually a threat to run and was considered a dual threat QB out of HS.

Post injury he was barely mobile.

I don’t think anyone really knows what he is or isn’t because we only have 6+ games of healthy tape over one season where he was off the charts elite in the short and intermediate passing game and pretty bad as a deep passer mixed with a back half of the season where he was barely starter quality due to the injuries.

I was really referring more to pure arm talent. Mendoza's arm is probably above average but not elite or even great. He makes up for it with his football intelligence though. In my opinion, he's the kind of QB that can succeed in the right situation but not sure he's someone you can plug into a bad franchise and get any immediate return on. Brock Purdy-ish.

Admittedly didn't watch a ton of Ty so not saying Ty is/was any better.

I could be wrong, but I believe that Mendoza only had one 300 yard game. The WR saved him at PSU. He’s a very good game manager and a winner. I’m not sold that it transfers to the NFL, especially with a bad organization. Ty is a better prospect, but he’s so slight in stature that I wonder about his durability. He gets happy feet with pressure (thanks OL) and his hyper perfectionism is more curse than blessing. He seems to get down on himself and overthink. I think this was part of the reason we made so many late play clock play changes (and time outs and delay of games penalties).
Early in the season he was just ripping it without overthinking. Injuries and perfectionism slowly eroded his confidence. This is all conjecture on my part, obviously.

This the same Orvosky who said Mahomes was too “boom or bust” who plays too “recess style” for the NFL.

Or who was “just not sure I see a franchise QB” in Josh Allen.

Yeah, that guy can kick rocks. I wouldn’t take his assessment of any QB prospect as a vote of real life confidence.

And this is how sports media works. Unproductive college chodes like Orlovsky, Joel Klatt, and others find new life by serving up nonsensical hot takes to the gullible masses in the hopes of driving page clicks.

Be better than this.

You and the rest of the fat stupid pricks on this board that couldn't muster up half the manhood Ty Simpson displayed this season if your life depended on it can GFY.

Not only was Ty injured in the Missouri game and stayed injured the rest of the year, he was also dealing with gastritis and lost weight and dropped down to 190 lb roughly. This board has to be the lowest IQ bunch of dumb shits this side of California.

I may be a stupid prick, but I am not fat. Lets get that straight.

And if this post tells me one thing, it is that the melodramatic, ragey, way- too-invested in Bama football, low IQ dips$!t Paul Finebaum callers of the world post here as well.

I am glad Ty Simpson decided to gut through looking and feeling like a Somalian famine victim this year. Maybe Kalen DeBoer should have thought that through when trotting him out on the field to produce a four loss season including a historic playoff beatdown.

Lets all give the guy the purple heart for his accomplishments.

No, just addressing how people like you spew your vitriol for players, especially those who played in Alabama, because you're fat, lazy, and too stupid to know different.

That’s mostly because of their scheme, I believe the only P4 team that ran at a higher clip than them was Utah. Most games Mendoza only threw the ball 20x

Edit: just looked it up and Simpson threw it 100x more and had the same yards and 13 less TDs

Not sure I would be comfortable taking Mendoza at #1 if I didn’t already have a OL, but he’s impressive and seems to have his head on right

Ty was very clearly injured throughout the second half of the season. He also played behind an historically bad offensive line. For the team to get to the Rose Bowl was pretty amazing.

This is such a funny take. How much Gametime did this “clearly injured” Ty Simpson miss during the season?

Not much, if any.

Alabama’s schedule was backloaded with the better defenses and the offense got exposed for being awful once those teams got the tape of running two high safeties and not needing to send extra men on run support.

The Rose Bowl happened to be a quarterfinal. It wasn’t like they made it all the way to the Rose Bowl semifinal which was a much bigger deal when the four team playoffs were around.

They also got beat 38-3 in that quarterfinal and annihilated 28-7 by UGA in the SEC title.

I don’t see much that’s amazing.

Mendoza: 182.9 RTG

Daniels: 208
Nix: 188
Stroud: 177
Williams: 168
Bryce: 167
Mac Jones: 203
Tua: 206.9
Burrow: 203

So comparing Mendoza to other elite 1.1 type QBs he was really effective, but he wasnt quite at that Burrow/Tua/Daniels/Mac level of historic from an efficiency standpoint.

Well... you could get him at a bargain draft spot Ill grant you that.

But after watching him for years I just dont see it. I see a guy with a ten cent brain who usually folds under pressure and who I've heard from people I trust has battled demons off the field.

You’re an Auburn fan. Any trip outside the state of Alabama is amazing for you.
