Ernie Johnson - Alabama Football

Ernie Jr. is great at his job on TNT but he's an even better man. If you haven't read his book I highly recommend it.

A lot of us in the South grew up with his dad, Skip, Pete and Joe on Braves games (radio and TV), and you gotta think that Ernie Sr. is pretty proud looking down from heaven on his boy. One damn good dawg.

A very moving talk! I,too spent many hours with Skip, Ernie and the guys watching the Braves.
Coach Saban has a continual line of speakers like Ernie Jr. to come and talk to his players. He's always bringing in folks with stories to help these kids to understand what's important in life, to make them better people. People who contend that he doesn't care about his players other than their athletic ability don't have a clue about the man.

Yep - it is all legit, too. A lot of folks talk a big game, but Ernie Jr has lived that life.

Grew up around their family in Sandy Springs and attended same church.Great, humble folks and Ernie was also a pretty good baseball player at Marist HS and I think he played a couple of years at UGA.

Yep - we have some secondary connections to the family as well and he's one of those guys that everyone who has any connection to him raves about how he's absolutely the same in real life as he is on TV/media.

It really sucks that Ernie Jr ended up doing the NBA on TNT and we got stuck with Skip Jr doing the Braves games .

Ernie is absolutely the real deal. He’s got this crazy complicated world figured out.

Re Saban- no way he can recruit like he does and keep these pro level players rowing in the same direction if he were a fraud. Don’t know what his magic is but he’s obviously got more to him than being a football savant

Yep. Has nothing to do with football or anything petty. Just a wonderful lesson about life.

Huge fan of EJ. His eloquence when he talks, his bravado; everything he brings to a telecast. I enjoy stories about his life, his trials and tribulations, just al all around great guy to enjoy. His chemistry with Barkley, Shaq, Kenny on the Inside the NBA set is the best and is pure entertainment. I don’t care about the NBA much anymore but I can watch those four anytime.

It may have been the Emmy’s, can’t remember, but when EJ was being honored, he immediately called upon the late Stuart Scott’s kids to come up and accept the award on behalf of their dad. EJ had such a tremendous respect for SS. I was also a huge fan of SS as well. To me, that gesture by EJ completely sold me in that EJ is overall one of the greatest humans alive.

I think he’s the dad who pushes you but who shows love behind close doors. Many of these guys come from tough situations where they don’t have that at home.

The alpha dog thing is real too where the guys who think they are the best want to be with other alphas and he sells that in spades.

The guy also fought off a serious bout of cancer. He's been through it and has somehow kept a positive spirit about life. I give his wife a lot of credit here as well, they must be a good team.
