Watching games and looking at Stadium pictures this weekend showed a lot of empty seats. The era of full stadiums is over. People will decide to go or not to go on a week to week basis.

I have a recliner and 75" tv for me in person doesn't come close to touching it

If I go it's just to relive good memories

There is nothing like being there in person. It's worth all the money and hassle

I will never understand this mentality. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for feeling this way. To me, sports are 100x more fun in person. No, I may not have every replay angle, but the crowd and experience is way more fun than the couch.

Everyone has been sleeping on the tax changes eliminating the deduction on seat donations.

Thats a big hit for the middle/upper middle class types who are being asked to pay for the privilege of watching three cupcakes a year.

Going to a day game at Tiger Stadium in September in 90 degree heat is not my idea of fun.

And you can walk to your fridge, grab a beer, and get back in front of your TV in less than 30 seconds. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete that evolution in a football stadium (if they even sell beer).

With just about every team on TV every single week, there is absolutely no reason to spend all of that money to go to a game. This is even truer now that just about everyone has big screen HDTVs.

Stadiums have always been half empty, it's why "sold out" used to actually mean something. It's not normal to have a sold out stadium every week. Only in recent decades did this ever become "normal", and only in some really big schools.

People under the age of 40 who are SEC fans have a slightly different perspective, their life experience shows that its supposed to be sold out every week, but in the big picture, over time, that's actually not normal.

ETA- multiple things

This is one reason why more Power 5 teams are scheduling home & home series.

Sounds like its time to lower ticket prices.
