RC did not know how to keep his hands out of the offense though. Wanted to slow down games to win with defense. Elko understands you need both units playing at elite levels to win.
I would probably draw more parallels to Sherrill. Knows how to identify talent. Knows how to get it to campus. Knows how to develop it. Sherrill and Elko go about it in completely different ways, but at the end of the day they are very similar philosophies and strategies.

I say your program, but it's really Aggie men's sports as a whole.

Best i can guess is he walked into a resource heavy institution and just got so caught up in the recruiting side that he basically did not coach. Hell, the only really good year he had was largely due to Elko's defense. That year A&M had the top defense in the SEC and was 9th nationally in a year where A&M played 9 SEC games and no creampuffs.
His offenses were very painful to watch. I think that side of his game just passed him by.

That's the kind of head coach response that speaks volumes. TAMU wants to pick up where they left off, not hope to get back where it all ended. He's a problem down there, and with just a little better quarterbacking in big game moments, he would have been a bigger problem in the playoffs last season.

I like Elko. I think it's a great comment and a great way to keep the team motivated.

Idk if it's me getting older but I don't remember a time when I actually liked several of the non-LSU head coaches. Elko, Clark Lea, Sumrall, and Venables are good dudes.

He said something very similar late in the year. He said he told players that fans are hungry for a championship. They have had years of dissapointment. However... nothing in the past has anything to do with right now. I wasn't here, you weren't here.
I like Ellko. He is honest.
