This is why Elko is a FANTASTIC hire for aggy:
-2023 Duke 7-5 record in ACC...down from 2022 record
-Beat now UNRANKED Clemson...aggy loves scoreboard over unranked teams
-Lost 23-0 to Louisville with QB2...only gave up 23 points, amazing
-Lost to 3-9 Virginia...played them close, that is what matters
-Of Duke's 7 wins, 4 were against teams with losing records...
-Elko has same 7-5 record as Mark Stoops...who turned down aggy job
NOBODY IS WORRIED ABOUT AGGY FOOTBALL
Confirmed: Longhorn Board of Regents have officially approved Elko as aggy HC.

You realize Sark was 59-47 (40-35) before this year, right? He had never finished top 5, top 10, or even in the teens?

To be fair, they had to start a backup freshman QB after Riley Leonard got hurt. Duke just doesn’t have the depth to absorb a loss like that at a key position. They’d probably be closer to 9-3, possibly 10-2 if everything had gone just right, with Leonard playing in every game.
Elko is a really good coach, in my opinion, but I also don’t see the Aggies being okay with good-but-not-great seasons. They’ve dumped too much money into the program to settle for at this point.

What was impressive about Elko at Duke was how "hard nosed" and "physical" his team was. Watch the Duke/Clemson and Duke/FSU game. It was not the same type finesse Duke teams that Cutcliffe fielded. That was noticable.
Elko will do well at TAMU.

This is football. You are supposed to be hard nosed and physical. HSo, he can take scrubs and play average football.
