After he won a couple of conference tiles and national title he was considered elite. None of these coaches had a horrible 5-6 or 6-6 season after they won a conference or national title.
No, but Urban Meyer had a 7-5 regular season. Pretty damn comparable when you consider FSU played two Power 5 non-conference opponents this year while Florida only had one that year.

Yeah of course they were old men and already cemented their status. Im talking about Jimbo Fisher being an elite coach right now.

What?
In 1966 Woody Hayes was 53 and went 4-5. He went on to win two more National Championships and nine Conference Championships.
Jimbo Fisher is 52.
Great coaches do have bad years.
You don't have to be a Jimbo or A&M fan to see that. I'm not either.

Bear Bryant was 12 years in when he had a .500 year. Bo Schembechler was 15 years in when he had his. Wood Hayes also had a losing season 15 years in.

Still Football. Still Elite Football coaches. Times have changed but the basics haven't.

Dude Im not going to nitpick and go back into the 60s to try to prove a point. I am talking about elite coaches right now who are considered elite.

You're going to move goal posts around to rip on Jimbo and A&M...which I'm down with but you're wrong on this issue.
Elite coaches have bad years. Meyer, Saban, Dabo, literally every good coach has a bad year at some point. It's universal, doesn't matter what year it is.

Why did we "frick" ourselves?
Money ain't the issue. We ain't penny pinching like your broke arse school. If we don't like the results, we'll buy him out. What's so hard to understand?? Does LSU even money, bro?

C'mon, you're reaching. The basics have changed as far as tolerating mediocrity at 7.5 mil/year. That's what's heading AM's way.

Im not moving shite around. Im talking about coaches who are considered ELITE today not having a bad season after their respectable conference or national titles.
Elite coaches are always in the mix.

You in this thread:
> Elite coaches do not go 5-6
> Ok they do, but only in the beginning of their tenure
> Ok they do, but not after 8 years
> Ok they do, but only if they're old
> Ok they do, but only before the year 2000
You're moving goal posts trying to bracket it down to where your point makes sense.

I do not care whether you're starting QB went down or not. You have more than enough talent on that roster to get at least 7 wins
that roster is loaded with talent. and that team very well may go 5-7. the people I know at FSU are basically telling Fisher not to let the door hit his arse on the way out.

I do not care whether you're starting QB went down or not. You have more than enough talent on that roster to get at least 7 wins. Look at all the elite coaches today. Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, Peterson, Swinney have always won more than seven games in the middle of their tenure. 75 Million well spent A&M.

I think you’ve mentioned that once or twice today.
What, exactly, would you propose that any Ags on this message board do in order to make things more comfortable for those who are disturbed by today’s news?

Agreed. A&M just paid Gene Chizik 75 million dollars.
