Even God agrees with this.
You're still going to Hell, though.

I'm sure the "Big 12" fan would rather watch Iowa State and Kansas play than any other game on television in that timeslot. He is, after all, a Big 12 fan.

Sorry to disappoint you Kaiser, but you must have failed history. bama & the aubbies come wayyy before you, with the gators when they are rocking a close second. It means "MUCH" more only to you aggies. Note that the "Gulf War" name is coming only from aggieland. Quit trying to force your cute traditions on a charter member of the SEC. Hang around a while, be competitive, and you may eventually reach SEC status like USCe & the Hawgs finally have. Go practice your cheers & let the big boys talk.

The Gulf War was coined by an LSU fan, I believe. And it is an awesome name for our rivalry

Egg Bowl back on Thanksgiving night and the first Egg Bowl in the newly expanded Davis-Wade Stadium? Hell yeah.

Surely you are good with a multiple touchdown betting line -- after all, you won by 35 on the road last year -- and you just said it would happen again...
I'm quite familiar with betting lines. Everyone here seems so sure that Ole Miss will get the W, I just figured that there'd be at least one person ready to pony up now with a wager. Since there is no line yet for this game, I'm pretty sure that all of the rhetoric is simply typical message board bravado and nobody is willing to bet for real.

History is not on your side here.
When facing a BCS opponent in back to back years since the days of Vince Young in non-conference, the Longhorns have won the road game and lost the home game:
UCLA:
2010 (Austin) - Blowout Loss
2011 (Rose Bowl) - Blowout Win
Ohio State:
2005 (Columbus) - Win
2006 (Austin) - Blowout Loss
Ole Miss:
2012 (Oxford) - Blowout Win
The only exception, obviously, is Arkansas...but they are Arkansas.

SEC-related because ESPN seems to think that Ole Miss and Mississippi State is a bigger draw than Texas Tech at Texas.
ESPN really had no choice in the matter. By contract, Fox Sports had first dibs for a game that weekend, and they chose Texas. ESPN covered their bases by lining up Ole Miss-Miss St. You will notice that Ole Miss-Miss St. on Thanksgiving is only a one-year deal, and that ESPN got serious about Ole Miss-Miss St. about a month ago, when it became obvious that Fox was going to get the Texas game.
Sorry to throw a turd in you guys' punch bowl.

In previous years, UT’s Thanksgiving games had been televised by ESPN. But as part of the Big 12's new deal with its broadcast partners, Fox had first priority in choosing a game for Thanksgiving weekend in 2013, and chose Tech-UT.

The only reason Fox got priority is due to the LHN.
ESPN owns the Big 12 tier 1 content, but they made a deal for Fox (owner of Big 12 tier 2 content) to get priority some weekends. In return Fox will let pre-agreed upon games pass through the tier 2 and into tier 3 for the LHN. This deal is bascially the only way the LHN gets conference games which it needs to get the few contracts it does have.
Thanks to LHN three Texas games will be on obscure cable channels. Enjoy Thanksgiving with the channel formerly known as Speed.

Yeah it's pretty amusing to see horns propagate the idea that ESPN has no control over which games get picked. ESPN decided which games get passed through...and they fricking chose Tday. And surprise! There are no other Big 12 games that day. And this is even an after the fact adjustment that was not part of the original agreement. It was done in full view of what Fox planned to do.
ESPN quite knowingly gave that game away to a rival network. Let that sink in

ESPN wants to catch Ole Miss on their run to the National Championship.

So they willingly put the game on what is currently the SPEED channel instead of the main Fox channel knowing it would get fewer viewers than the NFL Thursday night game (NBC) and the ESPN Thanksgiving Day game? You know that FSN didn't broadcast a Thanksgiving Day game last year, right?
That's taking spin to a whole new level...even for Texas.
