Like CGSC said, not going to happen. A&M was willing to leave that weekend open to accomodate the game, and even negotiated such with Slive for when we switched conferences, but texas acted like they were too good to play us and wanted to "punish" A&M for leaving the conference, so screw 'em.
Give me the Gulf War instead on Thanksgiving.

Great way to add insult to injury after Hugh goes in dry on Bevo IMHO.

This is more of an indictment of Texas Tech than Texas, IMO. There is very little if any interest nationally in Texas Tech. They are really only a regional interest team.
If the yearly Thanksgiving opponent were Texas Tech, you'd be correct. However, the fact that the opponent rotates between TCU and Texas Tech so that Texas is guaranteed a home game is the bigger problem.

ESPN finally got some shite right. If they just televised the shite talking at each campus year after year it would get better ratings than a Texas football game. Hell it would probably dethrone teen mom (they could film both at both the junction and the grove )

The SEC chants echoing through DKR (after the majority of Texas fans leave after the 2nd quarter) will be to Dodds like William Wallace yelling "freedom" was to Longshanks.

I'm all for it but if anyone thinks tt and ut is gonna get a bigger draw nationally than the egg bowl their nuts. Most people would rather watch detroit lions lose another T-day game than watch the big 12.
It sux texas was being such girls about the whole thing instead of trying to preserve the rivalry, but that's their big payday they are missing not aTm's

The Egg Bowl is a better draw than Texas Tech vs. Anyone.

always have your Thanksgiving weekend in a certain location). They are apparently rotating their Thanksgiving night game opponent so that it's always a home game.
So they are trying to go head to head with the cowboys or trying to play after or before

I don't think anyone was disputing that. I'm just a little surprised how quickly ESPN has given up on their "$300 Million cash cow" (pun intended)

That whole Longhorn network experiment turned out to be a huge fail, Espn GROSSLY overestimated the interest level of non-Texas fans around the country. They may be looking to just cut their losses.

Egg Bowl is a big deal cause it is usually the only bowl game either team goes too.
Hence the loss of interest from Espn several years back when they dropped the game.
Shortly after the game was moved to SAT TGing week.
The game has history with Espn and they have been wanting to programs to return to a level that justifies coverage.
Ole Miss signs top 5ish class beats State in first year of Freeze. They can sell the in-state rivalry and return to glory of Ole Miss.

So has the title "Gulf War" become a real thing? Do the LSU fans refer to the series with this name, or is this just some vailed attempt by Aggies to try and stir up interest in a pseudo-rivalry?

1.) Right up to the last moment, texas didn't truly believe that A&M would bolt. Most thought TAMU was just saber rattling to better our big12 positioning.
2.) Not wanting to be caught with egg on their face, they refused to play us, thinking that we'd be mired in irrelevance in the SEC while they dominated the big 12.
3.) The exact opposite happened
4.) They still think they're the "Joneses" of college football.
