Next year the Egg Bowl will be the only bowl State plays in.

Their schedule isn't forgiving breaking in a bunch of new defensive starters.

We played 60+ in most games last year. We played 56 in the Egg Bowl, which we can all agree, we were shite in -- and that was with Giles out with injury and Quay/James suspended.
We are breaking in a grand total of 3 new defensive players that didn't have starts last year -- all of which(other than Justin Cox obviously and possibly Will Redmond -- who would have to beat out 3cb's with experience) played a ton of snaps. The only spot that you could, even possibly, consider a major questionmark personnel-wise is the second CB position with Redmond/Giles. Our defense will be better next year -- and it will be better from week 1.

Highly doubtful. Barring some huge leaps in fall your defense will struggle early. Doesn't mean they'll be awful just really green.

Where are we "green"?

Secondary, LB(outside of McKinney), DL(outside of Autry). Lots of new faces.

LB-wise the only guy we have coming back who's not a starter is Matt Wells, who got a lot of action whenever we wanted to go into the 3-4 or whenever we wanted to get more coverage. DL has Autry and Kaleb Eulls returning.

Secondary
Chris Hughes has started at SS -- Arrington has played a ton at FS and started in 2011 after Nickoe went down.
Nickoe has like 35 starts at FS and is actually healthy now. He's had a tremendous spring.
Justin Cox is a 5* talent. Anyone thinking there will be major dropoff there must assume the same will happen at OM with Snoop -- even though it sounds ridiculous on both counts. Cox has been ridiculous in the spring.
Will Redmond/Ced Jiles are beating out players that have a ton of experience in Jamerson Love and Taveze Calhoun. Admittedly, this is the position I'm most worried about against OK State though.

LB(outside of McKinney)
What is Skinner to you? He has twice the number of starts as Benardrick. We replace one linebacker in our full 2-deep -- who was the least athletic and slowest of those players, albeit a great leader on the field and captain of the defense. Matt Wells is a freakshow athlete that likely goes early in the draft next yr as a hybrid TE cover LB -- one of the first built in the mold of stopping Graham/Gronk in man coverage. Let's not forget that both Brown boys are waiting in the wings here as well.
quote:
DL(outside of Autry)
DL has been the strongest position group in the spring. On the(current) starting DL, we are breaking in one "new player" -- who was consequently our sacks leader last year in a backup role.
Preston Smith will probably lead the team in sacks again(if Matt Wells doesn't from the LB spot). Eulls has started a ton of games, several at DT, where he's finally at his natural position. Light has come one for PJ Jones and Nick James -- really no need to say more -- you are aware of both their capabilities. PJ has started a bit and played a ton of snaps.
The only "new faces" are at the CB position -- with a stud juco that signed with us in highschool and again out of juco...and a 4* redshirt freshman who had offers from Notre Dame, Ohio St, and half the SEC and is an athletic freak(hell, he's the QB in Undefeated)

No doubt. We expect it from Aggies because its in their DNA, but the rest of the SEC seems to have been sucked in by their new agrarian brethern.

Yet here you are -- posting on the SECrant. Obsessed, indeed.
I only hope my hated Ole Miss rivals get to experience the same thing that I did leaving DKR in 1992. This tu team should be about as good as that one was...

What the heck is up with the sip fan coming on a SEC board and squaring off with OM fans? I mean, I've always wanted to fight a pack of midgets myself, but at least I have the self control not to act out on it.

He's a BIG 12 fan, not just a Texas fan. I mean he clearly prefers watching Iowa State and Kansas to any non Big 12 team.

So they willingly put the game on what is currently the SPEED channel instead of the main Fox channel knowing it would get fewer viewers than the NFL Thursday night game (NBC) and the ESPN Thanksgiving Day game?
As your ilk has already pointed out, the slot was pretty much given to Fox so ESPN could get more games on the Longhorn Network, to the conceivable benefit of all parties involved.
No one is surprised by this, and no one got dumped.
I seem to recall a lot of Aggies hoping that Fox's new cable sports network would rise up and slay that "sip-lovin'" ESPN. Funny how your bunch is singing a different tune now.
It's funny (this time as in "ha ha") that you folks are still butthurt about Texas. You're like the little chihuahua that's latched on and won't let go.

And this is even an after the fact adjustment that was not part of the original agreement.
What is this supposed to mean? The TV deal was renegotiated and finalized before the 2012 football season. Are you saying there's been more contract adjustments since?

Yet, here you are bitching about SEC matters on an SEC board...
The Egg Bowl will have a much higher viewership on Thanksgiving this year. Do you deny that?
