Well, admittedly, my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Just seems I thought I remembered Duece on the ground getting kicked by 2 State players. May not have been Deuce. And by the way, never hated State until Mullen.

It's funny how the version of this story changes depending on who you root for. I've heard swinging helmet from Deuce, and I've heard your version - that he was jumped and piled on.

The truth was that he throwing a fist, not his helmet, and he hit Shivers and bloodied his nose. Shivers was in high school and a recruit at the time, but was already near badass level at that time.

It was the nastiest fight I have witnessed in person between teams. I remember the name Wes Shivers for sure. Happy Thanksgiving and Hotty Toddy!

Another fond memory from me. The 2005 game was nothing special in that both teams were not good. But my wife and our two daughters went to the game and Jerious Norwood ran wild that day and State won 35-14. He was a great RB that unfortunately played on some bad teams (2002-2005 we were awful). But to watch him run around the Stadium toting the Egg after the game was special and I felt good for him that he ended his career on a high note. Of course he later played for the Falcons in the NFL.

For the Seniors it is big game and if you win it serves as a great memory down the line.

Norwood was injured early in 3rd quarter, if I recall correctly, and taken to locker room. Most fans figured that was it. Wouldn’t see him back. We held our own surprisingly without Jerious until he returned on the field to a roaring crowd who saw him come back out. He went absolutely beast mode after that.

Yes the crowd went nuts when he came back out on the field and after that he was like a bulldozer with speed. Unstoppable. If you were there like we were it was one of those special moments that you never forget. The fourth quarter was Norwood one two three rinse and repeat.
