The heading should've been more creative, like:

"Is Ed O-ver his head?"

Does it hurt....for you to think? I hear trying to form a thought when your not used to it gives you a headache and a strange attraction to your sister.

This is where you are wrong. Most of us understand completely. Most of us are not pumping sunshine up Ed Os arse. We see the hire for exactly what it was.

What people like you are failing to take into account is that LSU does have an over abundance of talent year in and year out. You also are not taking into account just how bad Les Miles really was the last few years. He had us running the most vanilla offense ever. Yeah, you could say we had a bad QB. The problem with that is that every QB we have had were all highly rated 4 or 5 stars coming out of high school. There is no possible way all of them could be terrible QBs. Something else other than QB play was the problem. The QB play was terrible but there was an underlying reason behind it that wasn't "lack of talent". Sure, none of the past few QBs we've had were Heisman type QBs, but they should t have ALL been that bad. The Les Miles offense set them all up for failure. Add that with poor QB coaching and you have a poor offense. The offense was the ONLY thing keeping LSU out of championship contention the last few years.

With that being said. What Ed O does give us is hope that the offense will be better. With a better offense, LSU is without a doubt back in the hunt for a title.

I'm just willing to "wait and see" what he does rather than just giving the old "well he stunk it up at Ole Miss so he's terrible" approach.

I'm in the same boat. It's silly to assume he'll be a miserable failure solely based on Ole Miss.

However, I disagree with those on the Tiger Rant that dismiss any mention of his last HC job as "irrelevant" or "hating". Others managed to win there when he didn't, even if it wasn't at a championship level. It is what it is.

I'm actually quite optimistic about O at this point, but I get why others might think he won't be successful.

Well if a team lacks discipline implies the coach lack discipline. So why suspend players as a means of discipline.
I would worry more about Arkansas than a belief or theory about LSU. Statistics dont lie we all know that a coach at Arky who could not succeed also failed to succeed at OM. CEO will be just fine. Let him coach a season and we can check in then to see if this thread truly has merit

Yes. And so does anyone else with a brain. Name one game last year that we wouldn't have won with a good offense. Our defense held Bama to 10 points. Any good offense should be able to put up 12 on ANY team. This isn't speculation. It's fact.

they both suck. you realise that, right?

Bert's record says he sucks, or it simply says Arkansas sucks.

It's yet to be seen with Orgeron. So far, he has done all the right things at LSU. We will see if it translates on the field. Then we can decide whether or not he sucks.

But for now, he's 12-4 in his last sixteen, which is far from sucking.

Already making excuses

Excuses for what? Ed is likely over his head. There is a reason he's never even been offered a coordinator job. OM took a flier on him and it didn't work.

If he wasn't a Cajun who desperately wanted the job at a time you'd just felt rejected by your first choice (and 2nd choice), then none of you would have any desire to have him.

That said, he's made great coordinator hires and he has tons of talent. His deficiencies will be masked much like Les' were. How is my acknowledging that an excuse and what is it an excuse for?

Good for him, but that's not impressive with LSU having a Natty the last 10 yrs, a huge loud stadium, great fans, a huge crop of in-state talent, and a roster already full of studs.

Les Miles had a signing class of 12 his first year and was only a year removed from a national title. Just saying

You keep pretending you don't know it's true. I know you are still sore as hell from that arse whooping LSU gave to Mizzouri last year, but at some point, you got to get over it.

They were all playing with pride unlike when Miles was still coach. They were playing with pride because coach O injected new energy into the stagnant LSU football program.
