9 - Mississippi State (15-15) probably fairly big step back

You realize that State likely returns every starting position player on our roster including All SEC OF Jake Mangum, NCAA regional hero Elijah MacNamee as well as the 4 freshmen who have been starting for us Rowdy Jordan, Tanner Allen, Justin Foscue, and Jordan Westburg (the rally banana guy) The we return both Catchers (Skelton and Gilbert), Alexander at SS and possibly Hunter Stovall at 2B

Pitching wise we return Ethan Small who will be our ace, and relievers such as Riley Self, Keegan James, Denver McQueary, and 3 pitcher signees who got drafted out of HS

Not tying to be combative. Long time until next year. We'll see how it plays out.

State played 1 game against a legit T25 team all postseason. That team was FSU. State was shutout 8 2/3 then needed a rain delay and an awful coaching decision to win.

OU has its best 2 hitters out and the 3rd was only taking first every time he crushed one off the wall.

Did you look to see the talent that Vandy and Oklahoma got drafted??? Vandy was in the top 25 most of the season.

You can keep waiting. You're insufferable. Do you want me to tell you who lead ya'll in W-L (meaningless) and ERA? Konnor Pilkington started every Friday night and Small every Saturday. Not sure your point. And Billingsley started 9/10 Sundays.

Two of them are gone and the third could be.

Again, so are Blake Smith, Zach Neff, and JP France. And no telling who else come attrition time.

Keegan James

Closed the door vs Vandy and was hitting 94 in the bottom the 11th. Its believed that he is finally back 100% from Tommy John

Yes I'm well aware of all that. But LSU will be 3-4 games better. Alabama should be 2-3 games better. Ole Miss and Arkansas will be good, as always. Auburn will still be good. Texas A&M is pretty much always good.

We signed former Alabama signee, Tyler Spring who was 1st team all region 23 JUCO and 1st team all state MS Juco. He will be in the mix along with some of the big tall incoming FR pitchers we signed.

Spring, a Mississippi State University signee, posted an 8-2 record with a 2.90 ERA. He pitched 59 innings, allowed 39 hits, walked 38 and struck out 79.

They are scouted relative to MLB potential not how good they will be in the SEC as a freshman.
Yeah I agree on that. But if even 1 of 3 are a legit weekend level starter, plus what we already have, it will be great. Having a legit guy pitching mid-week would be fantastic.

You want to make definitive statements like "State will take a fairly big step back," then yes I'm going to state my point. My point is if you think KP is our ace this year, you don't know anything about our team.

LSU owned Cannizaro, glad we don't have him anymore.

He was your fricking Friday night starter and was a 3rd round draft choice. I know that much.

You're the one caught up with SEC-only stats and meaningless W-L records for a starting pitcher.

Josh Hatcher, Justin Foscue and Jordan Westburg please google their Slugging percentages. Thanks in advance.

Hatcher isn't even in our starting lineup.

Foscue and Westburg are both slugging .370+, which isn't unrespectable as freshman hitting in the bottom third of an SEC lineup.

The top 5 guys in our lineup, all returning, are slugging over .450 each.

Yeh, we're not gonna beat you with gorilla ball, but we can swing some EBH's.

Quote where I said anything about pitcher W-L record. Ethan Small is our ace and it's not debatable.

I think we take a step back next year after losing our top 2 pitchers and best position player.

I think AU should be about the same, which is super regional level and competeing for a spot in Omaha. Should have more depth in pitching rotation and solid lineup again.

Yeah I look for Florida to win closer to 15 than 20 conference games next year.

I also see State as the 4th or 5th best team in the west next year.

OM
LSU or Auburn
State or TAMU
Arky
Bama

Maybe but ya'll lost AJ Puk, Dane Dunning, Logan Shore and Shaun Anderson two years ago and won the National Title last year without them. Plus Alonzo at 1B. And Buddy Reed in CF (though he was a bit overrated in terms of draft-status) potential over production

That would shocking. 11th round picks almost always sign - in fact I'd wager he worked a deal out last Tuesday night. MLB teams expect to sign 11th round picks.

"Everyone" is coming back or going to college right now - the draft less than a week ago. That will change in the coming weeks.

What stats do you want to look at?

Full year? He was 2-6 with a 4.56 ERA. That aint good.

K:BB? 3:1. That ain't good.

Average start? 5.5 innings. That ain't good.

K's/9? 9. Pretty average.

BA against? .270. That ain't good.

WHIP? 1.36. That ain't good.

Which non-meaningless stats do you have that would imply Pilkington was even an average SEC pitcher this year?
