LSU is going to be a nightmare for teams next season.

9 - Mississippi State (15-15) probably fairly big step back

wut? We return literally everyone except maybe Stovall and our second best starter and bring back our closer who had 14 saves a year back from injury.

I suggest you quit worrying about our baseball team. You can't be serious. We will probably be around 17-13/18-12. We will be improved.

He has been bad all year. There is a reason Small moved to Friday against Vandy. It hurt Pilk too. Pilk was a first round guy coming into the season but dropped to the third round after a bad season.

I'm gonna ask you this to see how well you know our team...
Who is the ace on our staff this year?

I'm not saying he's garbage. But his production this year was awful. It won't be difficult to replace that production.

He lost over 3 mph on his fastball and didn't have a strikeout pitch. He was terrible this year. Look at the stats and tell me that's wrong. 1-5 in the SEC with a 5.5+ ERA. Of theoretically 42 SEC weekend starters I'll bet his stats had him in the lower 30's at best. Y'all are acting like we are losing this incredible pitcher when he wasn't even a decent SEC pitcher. We don't need an All-American to come replace him in order for us to not regress.

State played 1 game against a legit T25 team all postseason. That team was FSU. State was shutout 8 2/3 then needed a rain delay and an awful coaching decision to win.

OU has its best 2 hitters out and the 3rd was only taking first every time he crushed one off the wall.

It’ll be a little while before reality hits because they get Washington game 1. Luckiest run in a long time.

We were also 10-1 against teams in the top 10 this year. Man you're not very good at this.

LSU played 2 games against a legit T25 team all postseason. And didn't get close to winning either of them.

It's the SEC. Everyone can't go 20-10. Everyone doesn't improve. Everyone can't win.

Do you pay attention to other programs or just Mississippi State? It's not crazy to flucutuate from 15-15 to 12-18 from one year to the next - even if you return a lot of your "starters."

You're also forgetting most of those freshmen are empty singles hitters other than Tanner Allen.

I'm aware of that. But we had a young team this year with a new coach in a chaotic situation. It's not crazy to see how much this young team has improved over the course of the year. To the point that they made it to Omaha. And then a vast majority of that young team is coming back as an experienced team. It's boggles the mind that anyone, even an Alabama baseball fan, could say this team will regress and, especially, not be in the top half of the SEC next year.

Coming into the year, everyone expected this to be a rebuilding year because of the young guys. Next year is the year everyone was eyeballing as our big year, even before the nonsense happened. We just got there a little early. Next year will still be a big year.

The fact that you think you need homeruns to win games is silly. Also, Rowdey Jordan is a freshman with 7 homeruns and a .548 slugging percentage but don't let stats get in your way.

Josh Hatcher, Justin Foscue and Jordan Westburg please google their Slugging percentages. Thanks in advance.

LSU's pitching could be truly awesome.

Competing for a starter spot:
Walker (our ace 2 years ago/TJ surgery)
Hess
Hilliard
Labas
Storz

plus: 3 top 150 guys who aren't signing with MLB
Hill
Henry
Marceaux

That is 8 guys who are probably starter quality. And we still have our pitcher who hits nukes

Not arguing LSU should be awesome but it is also important at this point we note that you can't really take MLB Draft or Perfect game rankings into account for pitchers especially in terms of instant impact.

They are scouted relative to MLB potential not how good they will be in the SEC as a freshman.

For example with LSU Eric Walker was not a top-ranked prospect but Cole McKay was like a Top 50 prospect. A lot of the time it means nothing more than they can throw gas - but often times have no control, or no command of secondary pitches, etc. But high velo is going to make you a projectiable (overused term) 10/10 times.

Mississippi State will go 23-7 next year. And 22-4 out of conference. Are you happy now?

Good Lord you're the only poster in this entire thread that is being overly combative. It's very early bro.
