It's just Edward Aschoff, the dude has been nothing but shite since he started at Espn. It used to be Chris Low alone and that was bad enough, now we have this 23 year old nerd who knows dick about football.

i agree he has been awful and low was already terrible

At least he's an upgrade from David "Let's ask the brain donors from the Bevo10 leftovers if Oklahoma State would beat either Alabama or LSU" Ubben.

I'm not saying Bama DOESN'T deserve to be 1st or 2nd preseason

I really don't see how anyone can rank Bama this preseason over LSU.

I'm saying that it's hypocritical for ESPN to overlook Bama's departures only to use Arkansas' departures, which are on a lesser scale, against them. It's not logical.

It can easily be assumed that Bama's replacements >> Arky's replacements.

eah LSU will have the D to be in every game they play next year but first year starters of that kind winning a BCS Title is not happening

Well this year we made it to the BCSCG with pretty terrible QB play. It can't get any worse which is why most people believe that Mett will be an upgrade for LSU.

Which is why I was refering to Kiel and Rivers and not Mett.

#6 preseason ranking for us...knowing our streak of exceeding expectations, we could end up with a chance to play in Atlanta.

It could if you were looking at the positions.

Arkansas replaces these guys on offense: Julius Wright, Joe Adams, Greg Childs, Grant Freeman, Grant Cook. The WRs are great players, but probably the easiest position to replace. And it's not like we DON'T have experienced WR's still. Cobi Hamilton, Julian Horton, Marquel Wade, and Javontee Herndon all have experience at WR. Then we have some younger guys who redshirted/played special teams that were highly regarded out of high school: Funderburk, Minor. Not to mention Dorial Green-Beckham most likely coming to Arkansas and Cortney Gardner being an instant impact JUCO WR. I just don't see how anyone can doubt Petrino's ability to put capable WR's on the field. Look at his track record. The OL losses don't worry me at all. Freeman and Cook were each in the program for 5 years and neither started until their senior seasons. Both of them were good players, but Brey Cook (OT) and Mitch Smothers (OG) will replace them and then some. Offense will never be a problem, IMO.

Defense losses are more worrisome, but not catastrophic:
Bequette missed a lot of time this year and true freshman Trey Flowers played great in his absence, as did rising JR Chris Smith.
Jerry Franklin and Tremain Thomas are the only big losses on defense, and I only say that because they've had their positions locked down for years. Haven't been hurt. So we just don't know what's behind them. The other senior "losses" aren't going to be an issue at all.

Compare that with what Bama replaces and I just don't see how they're being consistent in their analysis.

As someone said you can cover 6-8 with a blanket (Aub, FL, Mizzou). As the newcomer, we need to earn our stripes and I dont mind being a little underrated

Good point. LSU clear #1 2012-2013.

Not really sure why bama's ranked ahead of lsu. lsu will have a better defense and running game than bama which is the bread and better of both teams.

Pretty much everyone here agrees that LSU should be #1.

But, I'm not sure LSU will have a better run game. Bama's pretty stacked at RB and has a great offensive line returning with Jones returning.

Gary Danielson on Finebaum yesterday on why he didnt think LSU would be his #1. He stated in his opinion that the new LSU QB would force the style of offensive play calling to change. LSU would not have the QB's feet to rely on as much and the offense would go to more TE and pro style play calling

guess he missed the offense those first 8 games of the year, that had an inferior QB to Mett (most likely).

Due to the losses on the D side I would have to rank Bama a little lower than where they will end up at season end. Bama's offense will have to carry the team for the first part of the season while the Defense gets more experience and has a chance to gel. But the Defense will be very talented and fast.

So to start the season off I've got it listed below, I think Au has a chance to move up and ahead to around 5-6.

1. LSU
2. ARK
3. Georgia
4. Bama
5. USC
6. UF
7. MISSO
8. AU
9. Texas A&M
10. STATE
11. UT
12. Vanderbilt
13. Kentucky
14. Ole Miss

Edit: I think Mizzo has a chance to be pretty darn good and compete for the east. They return a lot of players from a pretty good squad.

Roll Damn Tide!
