Haha this is one of the more ignorant posts I have ever seen on this site and shows that you have no idea how the draft works.

Where are you finding Siera Josh?
I just don’t see it with Givens either. Best hope is he takes a jump from year 1 to year 2 similar to Tim Quarterman.
Completely agree. And he has pitched better than the traditional numbers show. He has had some bad batted ball luck.
Love the optimism but don’t you think a 1 game sample size is a bit too soon to consider that issue fixed? Also, we pitched two of our best strike throwers tonight. Tomorrow and Sunday will be more telling.

Dude throws 15Ks in one game (dont care who its against) with a 95mph heater and you have reason for optimism??? LOL

Do you know what optimism is? If you couldn’t tell, I’m an Eyanson fan. Reading comprehension…

he has been straight garbage at the start of games.

Slow starter sure. But these metrics take into account all his innings pitched which is what we are discussing.
Agreed, fastball location is key along with pitch calling and sequencing by Yeskie.

Anthony Eyanson- Reasons for Optimism

I have seen this kid catch some flack on here throughout the season. He has the makings of an effective Saturday starter contrary to popular belief. Walk rate, strikeout rate, batting average against are all good to great. It seems that teams string together hits against him in waves with some of it being bad luck. Fangraphs advanced metrics seem to back this up.

.349 BABIP
62.9 LOB % is very low
1.54 FIP (better indicator for pitching performance than ERA)

I look for him to have positive regression to the mean.

Duplantis was second on the team in walks his freshman season. He worked the count well.

Oddly his freshman year was his most productive year from a walk/OBP standpoint. His sophomore-senior years his OBP was about .050 higher than his average which is more in line with what I meant. He didn’t walk a lot, swung early and often. Not a knock on him necessarily. Great player but Maineri’s teams were more aggressive swinging early in counts. Would have loved to see Dups under the current coaching staff and offensive philosophy.
Curiel’s approach so far is already superior than Duplantis. Dups was an early in the count hitter (a very good one), but I prefer a guy that can work a count more. Both awesome players.
Great work George! They have done a nice job of revamping the eye sores that were previously on campus. One question, is it possible and are there any plans to remove the awful chemical plant south of Tiger Stadium?
1- Curiel CF
2- Milam SS
3- Jones 1B
4- Brown RF
5- Dickinson 2B
6- Larson DH
7- Hernandez C
8- Pearson LF
9- Braswell 3B
Surprised you think the pen is not as deep as last year. From my vantage point, it’s significantly deeper especially from the amount of inning eaters we have compared to last year.

Ah I see thank you. Love the write up. Dylan Thompson is interesting to me. Profiles similar to Guidry with maybe less velocity. Just following scrimmage recaps, he surprisingly has a good K rate.
No mention of Ware, Adam? I have him pegged for the Griffin Herring role although we seem to have a couple of guys to fill that role.
Thompson is quietly effective. Has a good K rate despite having the lowest velo on the team.
I sure hope Jay scrapes the idea of Guidry as a SP. I just don’t see it. I see him in the same light as Hess from years ago. I do think Pearson gets the nod on opening day out of respect. My projection is moreso what I would do.
SP1- Shores
SP2- Eyanson
SP3- Anderson
SP4- Schmidt
Herring Role- Ware
