Drunktitz Article

quote:

Anyone questioning whether Eli Drinkwitz has what it takes to lead an SEC program off the field this offseason has been given plenty of indication that Mizzou’s new leader is the right man for the job.

He quickly assembled a coaching staff full of SEC experience and managed to keep defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who received interest from other SEC programs this offseason, defensive line coach Brick Haley and secondary coach David Gibbs in Columbia in order to keep a level of continuity on the defensive side of the ball.

Come National Signing Day, Drinkwitz’s program even managed to beat out Alabama and Texas for Lone Star State defensive back Ennis Rakestraw. That win on the recruiting trail came after beating out several SEC programs to land receiver Kris Abrams-Draine leading up to the second signing period.

After walking the walk early in his tenure, Drinkwitz is now talking the talk and mixing it up with Missouri fans at a local Columbia function.

Check out what the Missouri coach had to say when discussing the recruiting tactics of some of his competitors, insinuating that Missouri won’t cheat like the Tigers’ competitors.

“I don’t think you have to do it the way the rest of the SEC does it,” Drinkwitz said according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports. “Ole Miss is going to try to do it the way they’ve always done it, right? You don’t have to do that at Mizzou.”

Just when it looked like Missouri may have made the low-key hire of the offseason in the SEC, Drinkwitz offered up that gem of a statement.

If you missed it back on National Signing Day, here’s Drinkwitz discussing the latest Mizzou signing class.

Drunkwitz reaction to signing a 3 star is here.

It was nice of Mizzou to give the kid a chance. The adults will be waiting for him on the ball field this fall.

I think he might think differently a year from now.

I can promise you we aren't jealous about you hiring Drunktitz. Pittman put together a great staff, Drunktitz is sitting at home drinking juice boxes and waving his harry potter wand.

He's talking how all of the OM coaches have historically recruited.

He makes a good point. Mizzou is historically the cleanest program in the SEC outside of Vandy (not including tutors), and it will make it that much more impressive when Drink leads us back to Atlanta in 2021

So using tutors to cheat is not really cheating?

And Yolanda says hey.

Welcome to the SEC, Mizzou fans. Your coach is at least talking about cheating. Gotta have those positive comments to fall back on when the NCAA comes calling.
