Good for your family if so. Seriously
But in curiosity - 31 ACT and high GPA are a dime a dozen at AU/UA much less UGA or UT or an Ivy
Are you guys “UM”? What is the missing piece of the story here?

Fwiw 31 ACT and high GPA, unless there is something else spectacular, is borderline on admission especially if out of state. My son was in state, similar stats and ended up wait listed before deciding to just go to another state school that offered him a scholarship in addition to his Zell Miller scholly. He can always transfer in after a year. Much easier. Though I’ll likely encourage my son not to do so because of the additional 4K in cost he’d incur without presidential scholarship at his school.

I don't disagree, but from what we've seen there isn't much to offer for an ACT score higher than that. That is in the highest range for most of the schools we've looked at. We're not shooting for a perfect score so it doesn't seem worth it to do that again.
Don't know why they're coming after us so hard. My child did make both the junior college honor society and is on national merit lists though. Has also scored in 99th percentile on every standardized test ever given and blew some junior college entrance exam completely out of the water. Highest score they'd ever seen. My child has put no effort into attracting colleges so I assume some combination of these things and her education history overall is the reason.

I don't know what UM means, so...maybe?

Would be extremely out of line with every other school we've talked to, but that's the sort of thing that would make us decide to retake it. Every other school has the exact opposite view of this so far.

Being recruited, hard, by every Ivy League school. I didn't even know they recruited. I do not exaggerate when I tell you this child is a genius. Colleges are falling all over themselves. I'm getting tired of the "junk mail."
Let me explain to you how things work. Unless you are the child of a celebrity or a billionaire, or have an extracurricular activity of national/international acclaim, you aren't coming anywhere close to getting in to an Ivy Plus (the 8 ivies along with MIT, Stanford, Duke and UChicago) university with a 31 ACT. By the way, the kids who get into those schools, could have been sleep deprived for 3 straight days and get a 34 minimum on the ACT with a 102 degree fever.
Your kid is getting propaganda from top schools because they want you, and everyone else in the world, to apply so they can reject you. They want to keep their admission % as low as possible to appear to be as selective as possible.

Calls, emails, mailers. Other than knocking on my door in person, they're doing it. Wouldn't shock me for that to start happening over the course of the coming year.

I could annihilate some of Weaver D's fried chicken and squash casserole right now.

Well we aren't applying to Ivy League schools, so good luck to them in those endeavors. No interest whatsoever on this end.

This. My kid had a 1390 SAT, 10 AP scores of 4 or greater (5 at time of application), GPA above 4, FFA, soccer for a few years, worked since 16, etc. I kept warning him his SAT was too low but he kept saying it was good enough. He applied EA to UGA, deferred, he was wait listed during regular decision. He was getting mailers, emails, etc from U Chicago, Vandy, and at least one or two other very difficult schools that he stood zero chance of getting into.

The Chicago folks are pretty creative with their mailers.
I will say that I have definitely seen a lot of high, weighted, GPAs. From what we have seen, a 4.0 unweighted, alongside AP and dual enrollment courses, is not as common. I think people put a lot of unwarranted time and effort into getting a B in an AP course to get a weighted GPA that, as has been stated, is pretty common because of the preferential weighting. Some schools have even stopped looking at weighted GPAs for this reason. Virginia Tech immediately comes to mind as one of the schools that mentioned this to us.
My child has 2 semesters of English, 2 semesters of history, and 2 semesters of precal at the college level, making the national junior college honor society this past year (whatever it is called) and has also taken 3 AP exams with scores that will allow credit for those courses at the college level, including macroeconomics and biology. That is a total of 9 completed college level courses before senior year, and it appears at least one of the AP scores attained will allow credit for multiple courses. Will take AP Physics and AP computer science this coming year, but could have graduated this summer if she just wanted to do get a science credit independently. Ultimately, she wanted to do another year with the band and that was the deciding factor.
I don't know why they're pursuing her so hard, but perhaps that's part of the difference. Her transcripts are essentially complete before senior year. Could also be at least partially related to the push to get more females into STEM fields. Maybe a combination of both. She's a female who will clearly succeed in engineering, and they think that's something they desperately need.

Good luck with this process. It’s a lot of pressure on these kids. Make sure she picks some backup schools and explore scholarship and honors college chances at those. Lots of cool things out there at some smaller schools.

Just curious if there is any reason? I know the founder was a good Christian man, so I didn't know if there was anything specific, or just creative marketing.

Looks like the Ranters have a bunch of really smart kids...
But no ball players. Except for that guy who's son is a kicker...
Oh well...
Somebody's got to pay some tuition.
