I had that same feeling about playing Miami in Tiger Stadium in 1988. That game was miserable enough that I don't trust those feelings anymore.

I think they would if they had a later kickoff and could really get Death Valley rocking

LSU couldn't hold an Auburn offense that's struggled to throw a forward pass all season to 16 points. Auburn ranks 80th in the country in total Offense & 106th in scoring offense. They're objectively terrible and you couldn't hold them to that score Tennessee is #1 in the country in total offense & #2 in scoring offense. Put the pipe down my guy.
Didn't Pitt take you to overtime? Lol yeah Tennessee is sooo fricking good we're just terrified down here.

You fricking hillbillies haven't beat us in over 15 years, come on down son, nothing to worry about here in Death Valley. It'll be a cakewalk, boy

I’ve been thinking we win but I’m not confident in it. I think we are a bit more tested—two 10+ point deficit rallies in SEC play is meaningful—and I think we match up well too. Their secondary is bad enough that even Daniels will feel confident passing downfield. Our defense has what it takes to slow down (but not outright stop) Tennessee.

You won’t catch me dead making a thread like this though they are the better team on paper, we just match up well.

Mediocre year last year that they thought was incredible.

Dude...nobody from Tennessee over the age of 15 would have thought last year was anything other than mediocre.

Your the third person today I've seen writing this. Do LSU fans not understand what the phrase 'match up well' means?

Because you most certainly do NOT match up well. Saying 'Tennessee is better on paper' is the same thing as saying that you don't match up well.

wtf?

If they weren't able to come back in the 4th quarter and eek out a win...Florida State would be 1-2 in the ACC right now with losses to Wake Forest and Louisville.

So is a win over a mediocre opponent worse than a loss to one?

I have been to every LSU game so far this year. I have watched our offense closely. I love my Tigers. I also don't see us scoring 30 points on any SEC defense with our offense.

We will play hard, we will make great halftime adjustments and if the game is close in the 4th quarter, the crowd will make a difference

No, it isn’t.

“Match up well” refers to the matchups of individual units that will be going to battle. For example, our WRs kick the shite out of your DBs and our OL can handle your DL; meanwhile our defensive front can get pressure without sacrificing too much in coverage.

Being “better on paper” means you have the better team in the abstract. Make both teams play the same schedule 100 times and Tennessee will come out with a better record than LSU.

But because we “match up well,” I expect our offense to have an uncharacteristically good day, and while I expect your offense to get its yards and its points, you won’t be able to run away with the game early and or put the game away late. I think it’ll be a close game and because LSU is more battle-tested from being in tougher situations, we’ll eke out the win.

Vols passing defense is bad, not our rushing defense. Our dline in general is graded among top 20 in the nation or so. It will be Daniels vs our secondary. Would be surprised if they run the ball that well.
