Does Jimbo get one more year to turn it around?

At this point he has to know he needs to hire a competent OC and let him run the offense. And I think if he does A&M will be a good team (here's hoping he doesn't). I think he gets another year because of the massive contract.

If they continue to lose games, lose more top recruits and then some of the coveted freshmen hit the portal, they might be forced to cut a deal with Jimbo on his departure.

He doesn't.

And honestly, at this point, there are bigger issues within the Aggie program than just the offense.

He will.

What deal to cut?

If I was Jimbo, and A&M told me they wanted to fire me, I'd say, "sure thing, you know how much my buyout is. As soon as the check hits the Jimbo Finch Boyz LLC account I'll pack up my office."

Yes he’ll get no less than 2 more. Nobody there wants him anymore but they can’t afford to fire him and his staff on its own, let alone pay another staff on top of that.

All this posturing about having “unlimited resources” is as fake as the blank trophy. These clowns are all posturing no substance.

The turmoil and failure at TAMU never fails to fill my heart with joy. They need to dump him. Quick turnaround and program corrections are essential in the NIL era.

Here are the numbers:

Jimbo is 37-20 to this point in year 5, Even if Jimbo were somehow to win out the last 3 games and get to a bowl game at 6-6 and win to get to 7-6,

Jimbo is 41-20 through 61 games.

Sumlin through 57 games

41-16.

Through 61 games at Aggie, Sumlin was 43-18.

So Jimbo would go into year 6 in a 2 game deficit relative to Sumlin. that is the reality.

AM is already the laughing stock of college football. Could you imagine if they paid a 86 million dollar buyout to a coach that signed a new deal less than a year ago? I might actually feel sorry for them.

Coaches sometimes agree to a buyout for less than what is in the contract.

If they go 4-8 or 3-9, I think it happens this offseason.

Even if Jimbo did let someone take over playcalling duties he'd still be butting in when the playcaller calls something that he doesn't agree with and then that'll be a whole other can of worms. Been a playcaller for almost 25 years now whether he was an OC or a HC, he's not just gonna let it go and sit back.

Probably going to get closer to 7 more years to "turn it around"

ETA Buyout schedule:

2022: $85,950,000
2023: $76,800,000
2024: $67,550,000
2025: $58,200,000
2026: $48,750,000
2027: $39,200,000
2028: $29,550,000
2029: $19,800,000
2030: $9,950,000

And that's if he doesn't get back up to 7 or 8 wins and they give him another extension

If you have an $85 million buyout, how much do you really care?

This goes for all mega buyouts (yes, I know where I can find another one).

Risk management says the risk is yours, A&M (yes, I know where I can find another unbalanced risk contract).

Absurd really.
