First you said Bret and Gus had never coached against each other. When that was proven false you said it was when both coaches were coordinators. Wrong again.

Guess I should brush up on my Wisconsin football history before posting again. My bad for missing that one game and not konwing if Barry Alvarez was still the coach.

Now you say Bret has only played against a HUNH twice, one of those being against Arkansas.

Well I asked if he had and the only answers given to me were the two game I listed. Do you have more?

Bert went 1-1 against a run based HUNH offense last year.

Who the hell was running that AU offense in 2009? 2010? 2011?

Gus.

If GM was in control of the '09 CTodd offense that was productive, and the CNewton offense that was productive then WTH wasn't he in control of the BTrotter/KFrazer offense of '11 that was so stagnant that many AU fans wanted it purged from the Plains?
Gus called the plays. Chizik kept him from going as fast as he wanted to go which undermines GM's philosophy.

FTR - Gus had lots of games as an AU OC that he called bad games. He is a great offensive mind, but he has a tendency to get too cute at times. I'm still in wait and see mode on him as an HC.

It was BTrotter/KFraizer's fault.

Doubtful. When they get to Oxford they might already have 6 losses. We will hang one on Bret

It was bad enough that there was plenty of blame to go around. QB was a huge issue, but the offensive line, play calling and terrible D didn't help things.

You should know when Alverez stopped coaching... you would if you were there for the beatdown like I was...

no offense but I saw an ole miss team last year that was very bad. I don't know how much improvement you plan on doing in one year but that game seems like a toss up to me as I don't think there is anyway we are that bad again.

IS this some "for the greater good of the game" path he is on them?

There you go again. It's like you didn't even watch the Bielema interview, you just saw that the HUNH was involved and you started posting without even listening first.

This has always been a player safety issue, you think Bielema wants to change the rules of college football just so he can have a bigger edge against Auburn? Ha, he doesn't need special rules to beat Malzahn, no one does. It's a player safety issue to Bret, and to suggest otherwise is just being cynical and I pity people with that opinion.

Thanks WDE. Gus gets too cute at times and in the past he didn't seem to have the ability to create anything different when his scripted bag of plays were unsuccessful. He's more seasoned now, and is surely smart enough to realize he will beed to fix those tendancy's.

So Purdue, Ill, and Nebraska all run HUNH offenses. At least we know Bret has seen it enough to complain.

That's why he wants to play "normal, American football".

I don't think Ole Miss beats the shite out of anyone this year.

Slightly over hyped team IMO. 7-8 wins is what I see. 4th-6th in the West.

So it IS for the greater good of the game. He want to help set rules that will prevent injuries all across the board. Thanks for clarifying.

Unfortunately for him, injuries will still continue as they did before HUNH offense came about so its a futile effort.

No, against every team that is going to the offense that he doesn't run and isn't accustomed to defending.

So playing "Real American Football" has to do with player safety? I can't believe you are buying that.

This is horse shite. Player safety is a laughable excuse to use because he doesn't like spread offenses.
