If LSU wins, MSU won’t be ranked anymore. If MSU wins they will move up to mid top 25. What’s the consensus here? Can we decide if it’s a quality win or not before the game happens?

We'll find out in mid-December when Mississippi State finishes their season. Just like with all other wins.

No. Moo U would be overrated. Fitzgerald only completes 2 out of every 10 passes. Their DLine shut it down two weeks ago and are preparing for the NFL draft.

You can count it if you don’t count Auburn and Miami as top ten wins.

Sure. But also, guaranteed talking points next week:

LSU wins: Still haven't played anyone

LSU loses: Lost to the only 2 good teams on the schedule

MSU has one of the best defenses in the nation (#1 scoring), a top 20 running game and a better scoring offense than 3 top 15 teams. It's a quality win.

They are unranked in the AP, so I wouldn't claim it as a ranked win.

The playoff committee places strength of wins based on the teams current rankings (not at the time of the game) - so I think current rankings are more applicable in terms of discussing who "should" be ranked highest, but make no mistake, LSU is the best 1 loss team right now based on games played, the opponent and circumstances of the one loss, and the eye test.

I mean, anybody arguing Georgia isn't good is a brain dead moron.

State would definitely be the #2 win at this point, I think. They'll probably win 7-9 games this season, so by years end they might slip into the Playoff Top 25.

If history on the SEC rant is any indication, they will be a quality win, unless we win then they will be an average win.

No but it would be a solid win. If won by more than 21. I want to see a blow out of tMooSt.

Would be something to hear all the idiots saying Moo U was overrated, then watch them beat Bama the following week after LSU wears the Tide out.

This. There is mathematical evidence that shows pre-season rankings (as crappy as they are) are actually better than mid-season rankings, which tend to be overly reactionary. Best bet is to used end of season rankings as your base barometer, then consider extenuating circumstances like major attrition to a roster due to injuries after you played them for example.

It will be a ranked win for State as long as LSU doesn't drop out of the polls after losing to Bama as well.

shite, its up in the air I cant believe im saying this but I agree with an Alabama fan. It really only counts where they end up at the end of the season.

Yep all those teams LSU beat looked good and strong at the time LSU played them but as the season has gone on....not so much.

But this is happening to every other team to, not just LSU

If Miami, Auburn and Georgia keep tanking, those LSU wins will look like polished turds.....But at least LSU tried to schedule stronger opponents

I mean, LSU has one of the 2 or 3 best wins of the year with the home beatdown of Georgia. Still a solid schedule so far, even with Auburn and Miami looking more like 7-5/8-4 teams than 10-2 types.

If they've been ranked within the past decade then....yes.
