re: The dodge charger is real...
Posted by UliKunkel on 11/22/18 at 7:48 pm
Ironically enough I used to work for a finance company in the Birmingham Alabama area and we did the financing for a Dodge Charger for a former Bama player (that is still in the NFL and the car is one of the ones often pictured when these allegations float around). I can only attest to this one instance in regards to Bama players, but the car was in his dads name and they were habitually past due. It was a collection issue and we had to send certified letters on multiple occasions to threaten repossession and then his dad would visit our office with a sad story and make the payment(s) - but it was always like pulling teeth. As soon as said player signed with an agent, the car was paid in full (a few months prior to the draft).
I’ve also worked at locations in LA, and MS, and have numerous other stories but they involve LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss, and USM players... And sometimes their baby mommas.

As for '18 Bama, guess we'll find out in December and January how they stack up.
November may have a say-so in that.

Could have just said “Tigers are the only ones not scared of Bama”...

Well stated.
But I’ll say this, the first drive of the second half from our defense will be key. If we are down 14 at half but can score on our first drive and then hold them to a punt (or turnover) on their first drive then it’s an all new ballgame. #FreeDevinWhite #WillisReedStatus

They’ve been great, but it’s hard to imagine them having guys running wide open against this secondary. If that’s not there and the huge back breaker plays aren’t happening, what then? It’s not unreasonable to think that we can eliminate those plays and see if that Offense can answer. I don’t see the weekly avalanche that’s been so impressive happening next Sat.
Auburn and Georgia both had guys wide open deep against us. Unfortunately, Tua has proven much more accurate than a Stidham and Fromm this year on deep balls so I don’t think we will continue our luck with the QB missing open passes. I think we can hold Tua to below 60% completion rate and hopefully can get a couple of turnovers (or more) with picks or fumbles on sacks/scrambles, but he will get his yards. If we hold that offense below 400 yards (I would think they end up with at least 275 passing and 125 rushing). I will be very surprised. We will need points off turnovers or special teams to prove me wrong but I think it’ll be 30-17 Bama. I just don’t see us being dynamic enough on offense to score enough to keep up with their offense.

Well he didn’t miss the next play after those 30 yds of penalties. And those two celebrating need to run. Run an run some more. Don’t do that shite on the field.
He actually did miss the very next play, they put the backup QB in and ran a handoff then our Fitzgerald back in the game. But, I’d still like to hear his take on it!

I got murdered on here for saying how I feel about the call (I think it was the right call, but take MAJOR issue with the fact that it isn't called consistently). I also think the rules should be re-written like the NBA has two levels of flagrant files. There should be a "Targeting 1" and "Targeting 2", with the "1" variety being a standard 15 yard penalty and also a warning to the player (where-in a subsequent targeting 1 penalty would lead to ejection etc.) - and a "2" being malicious and resulting in immediate ejection and possibly suspension.
WITH THAT SAID, I think you are being a tard. There is nothing wrong with expressing frustration over the call or the placement of the billboards. It may not make a difference in the game, but it shows passion and loyalty while also getting some LSU colors in an area where we could recruit better in.

Awesome! Did my part!
Like it or not, the call was correct (by the letter of the law)
Posted by UliKunkel on 10/21/18 at 8:45 am
We can debate if the calls are equally enforced (they aren’t), or if others have gotten away with similar hits (they have), but by the way the rule is written White’s hit was indeed “targeting”. Personally, I think this demonstrates the rule needs to be re-written to where ejection (and potentially missing part of the next game) only occurs for intentional acts of malice.
I realize he “led with his hands” but he did make forcible contact with the head and neck area (see image below). Time to move on.
We need our staff to focus on gameplanning to beat the Gumps, and do our part as fans to create the most hostile environment the Hawaiian midget has ever experienced.

re: Does beating Mississippi state count as a ranked win or not?
Posted by UliKunkel on 10/18/18 at 12:32 pm
They are unranked in the AP, so I wouldn't claim it as a ranked win.
The playoff committee places strength of wins based on the teams current rankings (not at the time of the game) - so I think current rankings are more applicable in terms of discussing who "should" be ranked highest, but make no mistake, LSU is the best 1 loss team right now based on games played, the opponent and circumstances of the one loss, and the eye test.

re: Alabama-LSU - Put up or shut up

My prediction is two part:
If LSU wins convincingly vs. Moo St this weekend, I think the spread will be Bama - 7.5. If for some reason LSU struggles (or somehow sh!ts the bed and loses), I think it will be Bama - 12.
And as much as it pains me to say it, I do not think this LSU team is built to come from behind, and I expect Bama to take the early lead and hang onto it by forcing LSU to play from behind. I think the final will be something along the lines of Bama 30, LSU 17.
We need a pick 6, fumble return for TD, or special teams play that flips the script early so LSU can methodically slow the game down and come away with a 23-20 type of win.

but it could drag out for years. how long would gus be willing to fight. might be easier for him to take a reduction and move on with his life. i'm sure auburn has the time and resources to stretch this out as long as possible.
Unless they feel EXTREMELY confident they could win, fighting contracts like this and dragging it out would be beyond comprehensible. Courts usually award interest rates between 6 and 8 percent + penalties for delaying contract fulfillments. Add that to the costs of attorneys for both parties if they eventually lose and you will understand why most teams choose to just pay the buy-outs and move on.

You can always go the Mets / Bobby Bonilla route and negotiate to have Gus accept an annual $2.1MM payment for the next 20 years or so.
The Mets gave Bobby a 5.1% interest rate on his deferred salary. If Gus deferred the 32m buy-out over a 20 year period at 5.1% they would need to pay him annual payments of WELL OVER $2M (Actually over $2.5m). They would end up paying him over $55m for the buy-out including interest.

Obviously none of the ones that think he should accept it understand TVM (time value of money) - at a conservative 4% return on investment the approx $16m he is due within a year of being terminated would be worth over $35 million in 20 years. Add the other $16m he is due in a few years with the interest it would earn at 4% and he would be trading ~60 million over the course of 20 years for 40 million.
*Edited to add: At a 6 percent annual return the inital 16m would be worth over $50m alone in 20 years). At an 8% annual return that figure jumps up to nearly $75m.
Now IF there was no offset penalty for accepting another job, it might make it at least intriguing for him if he is confident he can find another school foolish enough to pay him at least $20m in the next 5 years, but otherwise from a financial standpoint, it would be foolish.

Only way is if you can convince Patrick Willis and the Nkemdiche brothers to come suit up Saturday. Y’alls defense hasn’t had a pulse this year and will somehow manage to bring Auburn’s offense back from the dead.
With that said, Hotty Toddy, I’m pulling for y’all.
