The question is why.
Why did they retroclaim these championships out of thin air?
To look better for the northern elite media. Which is a very “yankee” thing to do.

This is where LSU fans get lost, we have never claimed a national championship. Someone else has proclaimed us a national champion, we just acknowledge it. You can dispute their choices, but we just acknowledge it

Alabama did not, they had won them. Most NC won before WWII were just for show, and really were not thought to be anything special. It was not until USC, ND, Michigan, etc started to claim those that Alabama started to claim their national titles.

Agree. This gets to the very reason they “remembered” to add these to the media guide.
And it’s sad when the southern baws want to be like the northern boys that they hate so much.

They can acknowledge it if they want (like Alabama's 1941 trophy), but they will get ridiculed unless it was awarded by a reputable organization, like the UPI Coaches, or AP sports writers.
