As an LSU fan, can't argue with your sentiment about last time to win big bowl game. I can honestly say that I consider LSU elite because every year we can compete with any team in the country despite our ranking or record.
Also, we are a storied program, which helps us stay in the elite conversation. But I am not dumb enough to not recognize the fact that its time to make some legitimate waves and reclaim undeniable "elite" status, because I am not satisfied with the past few seasons (obviously).

In the last 16 years LSU has won approximately 77% of their games. That is better than Michigan, better than USC,better than Notre Dame. About even with Oklahoma. Slightly lower than tOSU.
Since 2000, LSU has actually won more games than Alabama and has averaged more wins over that period . LSU has averaged 10 wins a year and Alabama has averaged 9.4 wins a year.
So Smokey, if you are speaking of elite and trying for some sort of self aggrandizement, you actually FAIL on that level. Over the last 16 years LSU is better than Alabama so therefore if you are trying to intimate Alabama's elite status vs. LSU you kind of fail. Now If you are talking last 6-7 then I will grant you your edge

We haven't won enough to be considered elite.

I never did. They had a run there 2003-11 where they could play with anybody most years but even Oregon, Baylor, etc have had runs. Over their history they haven't put it together for sustained period nor have they been elite multiple times with multiple coaches which is where elite programs seperate themselves. They have elite teams every now and then but the program is not elite. LSu is a good program, solid program and always has been but they are not a blueblood and not what most would consider an "elite" program. I think of baseball when i think of them. They pretty good at that shite.
So by your own standards, Bama isn't elite. That run from the Bear to Saban was anything but.
This is a fallacy, because most programs struggle to sustain momentum from one great coach to another. Oklahoma and Nebraska did it LONG ago. Miami was able to for a while. Who else? Most elite teams hire the right coach and ride them to glory. That's still elite. That's what Bama is doing right now.

Objection your honor, the question is argumentative.
Would the OP please define "still" and it's use in the original question?

The LSU defense is elite and if they had a couple of bad arse DT's would be ultra elite.
Now on offense they are not elite. They have elite players at some positions but not elite as a unit.
I think their LB's and DB's along with Key up front are in the top two to three in the country.

LSU isn't elite. Look at this year, Who is their best win? Arkansaa? They are 6-4 but fighting for last place in the western division with State and Ole Miss. LSU has played 3 good teams in Wisconsin, Auburn, and Alabama. They are 0-3 against those team.

Just ask Bama players which team is physically the biggest challenge every year. You and I both know the answer!!

what part of my answer did you get confused about?

LSU wasn't a threat. You couldn't even get on the scoreboard. They didnt even need a td. They could've gotten a safety and still would have won.

Right now #2 in the SEC
The SEC seems down though

From '01-'11:
5 SECW ('01, '03, '05, '07, '11)
4 SEC ('01, '03, 07, '11)
2 NC ('03, '07) + 1 BCSCG ('11)
Compare Bama's most recent 11 years ('05-'15):
5 SECW ('08,'09,'12,'14, '15)
4 SEC ('09, '12, '14, '15)
4 NC's ('09, '11, 12, and '15)
Only difference is the '11 BCSCG. I would consider Bama elite now. I don't consider us elite. But our "run" was much more than anything Baylor or TCU can produce.

Whatever weight Winsipedia, com carries, LSU comes in at #10 all-time only behind Alabama and Tennessee in the SEC. Hasn't been too long ago since everyone had put Bama out to pasture. LSU is elite.

I remember Jay Barker talking about Mississippi State being their most physical game.
Guess they elite, too.

Yep. Even in their down years they are tough as hell. And a down year is losing only a few games and they play in the west.
Easy question.
I haven't read all the other posts just bc all the trolling gets a bit old.

Does LSU lose to Wisconsin & AU with O?
I doubt it
We are a QB & couple of top O-Linemen away from being elite.

LSU is arguably the most elite program in the SEC.
