i think hart is big enough to get 10+ carries a game if needed. If Lacy went down I think Hart would be the number 1 back.

I think Fowler and Yeldon will be specialists; Fowler in short yardage situations and Yeldon in passing situations.

Nope. He's not even a Coffee, much less a Richardson or Ingram.

Maybe, then again it might be Yeldon.

Dee Hart is a pretty small fellow to be taking a SEC beating. I always saw him as a change of pace back in Bama's offense. Yeldon might even be the starter next season. He's that good.

I think he'll be a 1,000 yard rusher, but Alabama will use more of a "RB committee" in 2012. He won't have the overall numbers to win anything other than being placed on some All-SEC lists.

he's not as small as everyone thinks he is. he's short yeah, but he's pretty thick. i dont think he could be a workhorse back like Lattimore or anything, but he's pretty well put together. i have just as many concerns about Yeldon's body type as an everydown back as I do about Hart's.

Before you know it, Yeldon will be a 6'1-6'2 225-230 pounds SEC running back... I don't know how big Dee Hart is right now, but he's around 5'7-5'8 and last time I checked 180-190 pounds. I don't see him getting THAT big, because he would lose his speed.

He wouldn't lose his speed. Scott Cochran did wonders with another former track star, in Mark Ingram. He got him up to 5-10 215 and he still had great speed. Dee Hart could play at 5-8 210 or so.

IMO, Ingram has/had "meh" speed. What did he run at the NFL combine? 4.55? Something like that, and that was after probably training himself to run faster moreso than usual. I looked at Ingram as more of a power/shifty back. His speed never impressed me like Richardson's or Hart's. That doesn't mean he wasn't good, I just didn't think he was fast.

I think he would lose some speed, but it's just my opinion. I'm sure Tre Mason will lose some speed when he starts really gaining. OMAC didn't because he was already as skinny as a rail.

You don't need blazing speed to be a tremendous RB. Ingram was just "fast in pads". He also had amazing vision.

I'm sure Nile Davis will be fat and slow, coming off another ankle injury.

Did I do it right?

he came in at 5'9" 187, according to bama's official roster. i think he'll get up to 205-210, but i dont ever really see him becoming an every down back. he's not quite as thick as a guy like Mo Jones-Drew, but he's not very far off. i seem to remember his HS coach saying he was a hard worker in the weight room so its possible he could get a bit bigger.

Why are you changing the discussion? All I simply said was that I think Dee Hart will lose speed if he gains weight to prepare him for SEC defenses. I don't agree on him (Ingram) being fast in pads, but oh well.

Easy question. No.

Probably will do well in SEC top RB's though due to the line he plays behind. I have to believe that spinning move he has is going to generate a few TO's and he could get in the doghouse.

Eddie learned how to hang on to the ball.

It is very amusing to see LSU fans on this thread saying NO...since LSU could not stop Lacy that well in the title game. Nor did your team even act like they wanted to try to stop him. Having said that, no one ever wants to try to tackle him.

I don't know how to compare him to Trent or Mark, he is entirely a different RB. He has most definitly improved greatly this year. I certainly would keep him over anyone LSU put on the field 1/9.

Every year Bama fans think it will be this major RB by committee... D Hart isn't in the same league as Lacy right now... Fowler is a clear #2 now... the same progression will always be in place since Coffee. Lacy is a big time RB all you LSU haters wish he was avg but he isn't LAcy is an elite RB.

Saban is loyal to his stud athletes who patiently wait their turn to be the #1 guy. It will always be.. #1 gets 60% #2 gets 30% # gets 10% or something like this.

Saban said during the NC "we count carries". You are correct.

As a finalist? I know he isn't as good as Richardson, but he seems around Ingram's level,

Are all gumps, this delusional? Eddie Lacy couldn't stay healthy as a damn backup, but yeah he is better than the HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER!
