Do you believe jersey numbers should be retired?

I personally don't care for it and glad Bama doesn't do it as I enjoy #12 out on the field.Namath and The Snake's number. But I like the whole statue thing with great players and coaches.

Ehh it's whatever. I like having Jersey numbers mean something personally. Like the 1 Jersey for Florida has special meaning.

I'm glad that we don't, but if we'd been doing it for 50 years I'd probably be fine with that too. Just up to each school.
I like what LSU does with the #18, though. That's a very neat tradition.

For a generational player, when their number had no previous meaning until they dominated in it and won it? Absolutely.
I can also appreciate #12 Bama, #7 LSU, #1 Michigan bringing the best out of players.

It’s definitely going to feel weird seeing Rakeem Boyd wearing #5 in our McFadden-era uniforms this year

Nope, one person isn't bigger then the program.

I also agree with what Lsu does with #18 and Ole Miss with #38 honoring Chucky Mullins.

I don't have a problem with it. I think you should only be allowed to retire a number until one year after the player dies.

I’m good with it, but it should be a very exclusive club.
Heisman winners or true once-in-a-generation players.

Only when it’s something truly significant. Ex: Jackie Robinson’s 42

I kind of wish it would stop. I mean, you can only use 1-99. At some point, you run out.

When you go in Bama's locker room, on each locker of the players number they list all the All Americans that wore that number. So no, never

Wow that's pretty cool and impressive.Shows that player he has something to live up to to make that number proud.

There are only 99 numbers available and I'd rather retire jerseys and make them available to be shown somewhere than the number itself. We have 4 numbers retired permanently I think (2, 37, 38, and 56)
2 was Sterling Sharpe who is not known as being the nicest guy in the world. He's been asked many times to let a specific player (Alshon Jeffery) asked to wear the number and he refused. His right I guess but seems ego driven.
38 was our only Heisman winner George Rogers. His is the only one where I think should remain permanent.
The others 37 and 56 were out of respect for players that died I believe while at USC years ago. I think its ultimately up the those families to unretire them if they'd like. Im torn with these because im the end, I guess I wouldn't have known anything about those men had it not been for inquiring about the retired number so I can see how it keeps their legacies going.
Moving forward, outside of a Heisman, I don't think numbers should be retired.

When I die .... I expect my frickin avatar and signing pic to be retired from the SECr (and for them to be rolled out once a year for scrooster Day when everyone celebrates by getting drunk and banging their wives or girlfriends or, in the case of Aggie, fapping into the jizz jar), so yeah, I can see why jerseys are retired.
Hell yes.

No, because if we retired the noteworthy Bama numbers, the incoming players would have triple digit numbers.
