I’ve been trying to tell people this for a couple years. No.

Always a good laugh when aggy or Mizz shite talk the weak Big 12. How many times did you badasses walk off the field with the conference title?
One in 32 tries.
A&M has one conference title in 25 years & Missouri hasn't won a conference in over 50 years.

Look how the Big 12 went and the old SWC? Texas has been part of the problem and now will try to do the same in the SEC.

Big 12 is alive and well. Texas found a P5 home for the little brothers in our state. They're very appreciative.
SWC was never going to be viable post 1990. Arkansas didn't leave because of Texas, they left for the same reason everyone changes conferences: money.

Texas and Oklahoma will have to make some adjustments and will need time to overcome the complexity of the SEC in general.
You mean like Missouri did their first year in the SEC East? Y’all won the East as I recall….Texas will be just fine.

As long as each of us gets more $$$ annually because we are letting Texass and Oklahoma in, I am all for it. The ONLY factor in conference expansion is does it generate significantly more revenue.

It may make some of you cry wolf for letting Texas in the SEC.

Missouri went 5-7 their first year in the East.

What I meant:
Let’s say Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Virginia, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington & Colorado all joined the B1G in the next 5 years.
Idk what the future holds, but that’s a ginormous contract for each team. Let’s assume it is $150 million per team, per year. Maybe it is more, maybe it is less.
Let’s also assume that the SEC contract is $100 million. The numbers don’t matter.. the point is, let’s assume there is a big difference. At this point, the poison is in the water.
In this example, that is a $1 billion dollar difference over a 20 year period. You can argue how much more money it would be.. maybe it isn’t that much.. but you can’t tell me that a huge number like that wouldn’t impact the actual sports being played.
NIL deals, Coaching salaries, etc.
While technically true the schools can not give NIL money to athletes. Coaching salaries might be better, but a lot of coaches get paid huge amounts and would prefer to win. Of the schools you mentioned, only one school (Texas) has won one NC in the last 20+ years.
Last National titles in football -Texas 2005, Oklahoma 2000, Notre Dame 1988, North Carolina none, Oregon none, Washington 1991 (only one), Colorado 1990 (only one)
The Big Ten would bulk up with really useless teams in football. Basketball, only UNC has won a basketball titles (6) while none of the other schools have won one.
It honestly would be subtraction by addition for the Big Ten.
quote:
Yes, the SEC is 100% a superior product right now across the board. But they weren’t the king like they are today 20 years ago. Things change.
The SEC averages 3 NC a decade in football and has since 1950. The only decade the SEC did not win 3 was the 1980's (1950-3, 1960-3, 1970-3, 1980-1, 1990-3, 2000-5, 2010-6, 2020- 3) so the more things change the more they stay the same.
I will not even look up basketball or baseball but the SEC does well in those sports too.
The bottom line is the SEC has several advantages that the Big Ten can not match, weather-athletes (they are everywhere)-proximity for the families to the school.
Even with 10 teams, the SEC was running rings around the rest of the country.
So the Big Ten, even with those additions, would make a lot of money, I am not so sure the Big Ten alumni would like seeing the SEC winning most of the titles (which would not change)

Right answer. Anybody who says CFB’s not a multi-billion dollar business played and coached by 1099 mercenaries for hire is naive or trying to cling to the past.

Academically, the only place UTexas degree is valuable is Texas.
Athletically, in the last 25 years, UTexas has won how many NC in basketball, football and baseball.
By the way, that was not my opinion, it was the opinion of my Texas-Exes cousins who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UTexas.

Need another easy win on the West Side. Love that they look like UGA but have the mental toughness of UC Berkeley.

I love fishing Florida waters with folks who grew up there. You should try it. It’ll help you understand how to bait the hook.

What are they gonna do exactly? Stop the same 3-5 teams in this conference from winning national championships consistently in the big 3 sports?
In the last 2 decades;
Florida has 2 football NCs, 2 basketball natties, and a baseball
LSU has 3 football NC’s and a baseball NC
Alabama has 6 Football NC’s
Georgia has 2 Football NC’s
South Carolina has 2 Baseball NC’s
Auburn, Ole Miss, State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt have all won a national title in one of the big 3 sports.
Texas is going to come into the conference and just frick all that up? Lmao ok bro
