At Leach’s age, it is doubtful he is going anywhere. He had significant tenures at TT and WS and he seems to be building something pretty good here. He does not appear to be a coach who is going to keep doing this past his late 60’s to may be 70.
So at 61 IMO he will be at State another 6-8 years before hanging it up for good. And based on his previous record he will be successful. How successful, remains to be seen.

The media speak glowingly of the Neb job. I don't get it.
Neb is fast becoming a distant memory.
Devaney is deceased and Dr Tom is not coming back.
I read that Georgia Southern set the all time record for yards by a visiting team.

Do you really think Nebraska can pay him any more than we can? Lol
1. Nebraska has a rich history of winning national championships and their alumni are desperate to get back to winning.
2. Revenue will always be lower when youre flat out losing like they have been recently.
3. Money clearly isnt an issue when they could have waited 3 weeks to save $7.5 million on Scott Frost's buyout.
4. Even though the school endowment doesn't mean a ton, they have another billion dollars in their endowment than State.
They absolutely can out bid State, but the question is will they. Doubt it. I also doubt they even pursue him in general.

Nebraska will never work trying a Leach offense because skill players won't go there. Leach knows that. The Cornhuskers need to be road grading power runners.

We can and will pay Leach whatever he wants. We were willing to do it with Mullen too, but he let his arrogance get in the way. Leach is in his 60s. He isn’t going anywhere.

People are overvaluing the Nebraska job by a mile. No recruiting pipeline, no success since joining big ten, and a fanbase with unrealistic expectations.
In todays world, any P5 school with a decent coach that they like can match what Nebraska can offer.
They’re not gonna pull a big name. Either a middling coach like Matt Campbell or a P5 coordinator most likely

Osbourne's only 85. May be time to unretire.

I’m also genuinely curious when the last time an SEC coach willingly left the conference for another college job

This. Minnesota and Cal used to win natties too. Should we be worried when they have an opening?

James Franklin left Vanderbilt for Penn State in 2013, Lane Kiffin left Tennessee for Southern Cal in 2009, and Dennis Franchione left Alabama for Texas A&M in 2002.
I don't know if you can count what Urban Meyer did as leaving the conference for another college job. He took a year off, but it was pretty clear where he was going once he had "recovered" from Saban ending his dominance.
I'm trying to think of other coaches and none are coming to mind.

Not saying he’s a big name, but Matt Cambell is usually mentioned during coaching searches including the upper echelon (LSU, USC, OU if we are to believe rumors).
I’d say he is on equal footing with and no more middling than Leach and Stoops.

It’s ok to have a false sense of confidence for now, but I know you’re nervous.

Why don't you look up Leach's record on Thanksgiving weekend and get back to me?
