They are full time, professional refs. Surely, if we had that in the SEC, we’d never have a blown call.

NFL refs have other jobs as well.

They're only blown calls if Alabama loses.

Otherwise, just part of the game.

They definitely miss calls, but not as many as in CFB. There are very few flags thrown in the NFL, compared to college, where it isn't at least debatable if it should've been thrown.

It is 100 times better.

I've known NFL refs over the past 25 years. Two were lawyers and one was in sales. They have other jobs. NBA and MLB have fulltime refs and umpires do to the number of games.

It will take 4,679 more blown calls against the Turds to get to even.

The only thing that professional officials would provide, in my opinion, is some sense that they would be less "prone" to being influenced by gambling interests - and that ain't worked at all in the NBA.

Alabama and UGA had 121 plays in the game. I think those were "snaps" when one or the other were had the ball and do not include kick-offs and PATs. UGA took a knee on 3 of those so this wouldn't logically apply to those 3 so Alabama and UGA had 118 opportunities to score a TD and failed to do so on all but 4 of those opportunities. That means combined both teams failed on 96.61% of he opportunities each had to score in the game. There is ALWAYS something someone does to prevent scoring a TD on every possible opportunity. A tailback fails to make tacklers miss. A receiver drops a pass or fails to make tacklers miss. The QB fails to find an open receiver or makes a mistake passing. In a perfect scenario NONE of these things would happen. They do, they are kind of the essence of the damned game.

Bad calls and no calls are inherent in the game. Just like players and coaches making mistakes and failing to score on every opportunity officials, being humans, make mistakes as well. In this game Alabama fans point to 3 of these mistakes in particular - the face mask, the interception and the pass interference. I think Alabama fans are correct on all counts and will completely dismiss ANY mistakes the officials made made against UGA. That is 2.48% of the opportunities the officials had to make a mistake, about 93% better than the teams combined.

Toward the end of the game Alabama made 2 crucial mistakes - the sack after the uncalled PI and the personal foul call that sealed the loss. That alone is a critical mistake made on 1.61% of the opportunities Alabama had to score a TD. UGA made 2 crucial errors, at least, in Stockton throwing an INT, a BAD interception, and Peyton Woodring missed a FG. After that INT Alabama lost yardage (missed facemask), jumped offside and threw an incomplete pass and punted. Had the merely taken a knee for 3 downs at the spot of the INT they could have tried a 44 yd field goal that would have been pretty big at the end of the game. They did not.

This is a good point - Alabama got 2 missed calls - the face mask and the PI - in both cases Alabama made mistakes...crucial mistakes. They jumped offsides, allowed a sack, threw a BAD incomplete pass and the personal foul penalty. Those 4 mistakes outnumber the ones in question made by officials by 33%.

It wasn't a single play or any number of individual plays where some entity on the field, consisting of humans, made a mistake, that prevented Alabama from winning. There were 121 opportunities in the game for Alabama to score a TD...they failed to do so on 119 of those opportunities. Any number of those opportunities cost Alabama the game, not 3-4 or 20 made by the officials. This is the essence of the game. Whining and crying about it is unseemly.

No. No the frick they are not.

That is currently a huge grip amongst NFL fans.

Your OP is 1000% false and I wish you infinite downvotes.

Not joking. If anyone knows this dude check on him. Had a poster on Swamp247 that would post rationally at times and then do this. He had an addiction and died at an early age.
