This one’s risky. This is either a beautiful marriage or epic dysfunction waiting to happen. Not much in between.

I honestly don’t know if we’re better now than we were with him, but I’m asking why Auburn’s defense has been elite with him and it wasn’t at A&M, despite the defensive talent he had to work with.

I do know he had complete control defensively for AU. Freeze had nothing to do with that side of the ball. Not sure if that was the case with aggie.

Freeze said no boosters or bot members ever tried to meddle with him

So you're saying it's not true that Jon Sumrall pulled his interest because the program went behind his back to extend a DC that he hadn't even interviewed?

That same DC that they just extended?

Maybe you need to listen to your boy Cole Cubelic intimate how this whole thing was nearly a disaster, because the family decided to hire Durkin as HC, then at least keep him as DC.

He has literally said there is a cultural problem at Auburn that needs to be fixed (like, on Sunday after the announcement).

Or maybe I don't. And maybe reputations last far longer than reality. Auburn nearly lost accreditation over booster/bot bs. While they may have been slow to learn, they have learned.

Paperwasp, why do Auburn's HC and DC bother you so much?

or you can't be that stupid.

Our last HC came out and said no booster meddled under his tenure. Lowder has no bearing on anything any longer. He was the one that wanted everything done his way.

And yet the guy who was fired a month ago just said that boosters were not involved with him or his decisions.

You’d have to look at the other assistants on that side of the ball as well as well as who was in charge of bringing in those personnel. Don’t quote me but I think Durkin outside of Wesley McGriff was in total control of that side of the ball. McGriff is a HF guy and follows him everywhere he goes

So Auburn gets the 8th best SEC defensive coordinator (in total defense) this past year?

On the bright side - Auburn was 7th best in SEC scoring defense.
