Watched the game, and IDGAF about Texas or tOSU.

Manning is pretty average. Has some poor mechanics. Doesn't hit his receivers in stride.

He has bad mechanics. With his experience and coaching resume that's inexcusable. Human beings often revert to muscle memory under stress. If this is that stress baseline, he's going to have a long season against good defenses. Which, I remind you, was his MO in high school.

Also: I want to quit hearing what a genius offensive playcaller Sark is. He's not. Never has been. He's highly predictable, and largely vanilla.

Finally... someone has addressed that horrible throwing motion. Every time the camera panned to him, he was rotating his arms trying to adjust his pads or something. Looked weird. Throwing motion doesn't look like one that could have repeatable results. Just my opinion.

I think that Clamdip video says it all.

None of that matters until the bullets start flying. He'll either learn to handle it or he won't.

He was bad. Full stop.

Media is trying to save their investment and rationalizing like crazy as expected.

Get ready for some good entertainment. Nothing better than a QB controversy in Austin.

I think criticism of Arch is crazy right now. Ohio St is the defending champs and has the best d in the country. Now if he has this same result again in the next 6 weeks bring out the torches and pitch forks

So, the "generational talent" picked as the Heisman favorite and the #1 Draft choice can't stand up to a tough D?

I don’t think Arch looked as bad as Bama’s Defense. I

This is the biggest "sin" of his start. If he had just been a "normal" 4 or 5 star recruit and had a game like this in his first start, most people would have the same opinion of "needs work, but shows flashes".

Arch, OTOH, has been talked up to insane proportions and then go thrown into the blender of a Week 1 road game against a top 3 team. You can't talk a player up like that and then not expect criticism when they fail to deliver the promised land.

It was not his first start. Can we stop repeating this myth?

What part of “looked like” do you not understand

I think a decent number of readers would read this to include the italicized part of this as implicit in the statement.

He looked like what he was: a kid getting his first start at Ohio State on the road.

Even if they didn’t see that in this case, there are several posts all over this board that do say explicitly that this was his first start.

If his last name wasn’t manning, he would not be the qb for sure.

I agree. He's been too over hyped and went up against a very good defense with pro schemes, but even so, one would think Texas prepared for it.

He was often inaccurate on throws that should be routine.
