Bama can say they are the best team in the nation but at the same time can't even claim to be the best team in their conference. LSU has that right.

None of these things matter in a playoff.

I love this thread. I read every page and would read it again. The tears of anger from all the buttsprained lsu fans bring joy to my heart.

Carry on.

Even with a play off #1 and #3 wouldn't matter.

Let's look at a couple of nuggets, all from two paragraphs....
quote:

Most worrisome, April said, was that "At ‘Bama they want to red shirt - or grey shirt - him and they want him playing nickleback instead of safety.

First off, there is no friggin' way Saban is telling this kid that they want him to greyshirt. That could be the difference in signing or not signing one of the top players in the country. Greyshirting is for the kid you like a lot, but are willing to let slide if need be.

quote:

He is the top safety in the country and he will never play a game his freshman year.

Really? Vinnie Sunseri came in and played all season in the secondary as a freshman.

quote:

Now, at LSU coach Les Miles is offering to play him as safety during his freshman year.

If he's good enough to come in and play at LSU, he'll be good enough to come in and play at Alabama.

quote:

His (Nick Saban's) goals don't meet the criteria of the family; they meet the criteria of Alabama."
What were, then, her goals? "For Landon to win the Heisman Trophy...

Where to even start with this jewel...so Nick Saban doesn't want him to win the Heisman Trophy? I'm confused...would Saban actively lobby AGAINST him winning it? What does this even mean?

quote:

...and to be able to play close to home at LSU with his younger brother, Gerald, who is also an outstanding football player who has offers to play at LSU."

So Les Miles offering your other son in an effort to land Landon is fine and dandy...? Thats not "manipulative", or "shady"? In fact, its not...and it happens all the time, just like students getting jobs in Alabama's athletics department (if that accusation has merit)...the FaxCam Girl from signing day last year was a student employee in the Department.

quote:

She said these weren't just her goals; they were shared by his younger siblings.

I bet, getting two scholarships from one son would indeed be a worthy "goal"...for her and the younger brother. She's probably pissed because that LSU shollie for the younger bro is gonna evaporate when Landon signs at Bama.

Surely you don't truly believe that. There was 2 clear cut teams above the rest of the country, as evidenced by margin of victories. Lsu would have been rematched as Bama was, if other teams lost AFTER they did, like what happened for Bama. How many times, every year, is it brought up that it's better to lose early, than late. That is exactly what helped Bama to get in the NC game. Had Okie St lost at the beginning of the year, they likely would have been in. But their late loss to such an underdog did them in.

quote:

You all had your shot in 11/5 and thats where it should have ended.

That wasn't for the NC title. Fortunately for Bama this year, it matched 1 vs 2. To deny that Bama was #2 and that other teams were better, is being dishonest.

I never said anything about a playoff. At least with a playoff Bama would have earned their way to the BCSCG (and I believe they would have quite easily). However, with the current BCS format Bama begged their way into the game and that is a fact.

But suffice it to say, April appears to have reasons for feeling the way she does about her son's decision, and they have less to do with her being an LSU fan and a mom who doesn't want to let go, and more to do with her understanding what was happening behind the scenes, outside camera range, that may have played a role in that decision that didn't square with the way she raised her children.

Take a look at the video clip again. The focus has been on the reaction of Landon's mom to the news. But Landon doesn't look all that thrilled either.

There is a Jewish proverb that says, "A mother understands what a child does not say." Perhaps it explains everything.

It would not surprise me if Landon were to step back to try to understand exactly where his mom is coming from before he formally commits to the Crimson Tide. We'll find out if he does on February 1st.

Nobody's arguing that you weren't SEC Champs. Congrats. It's certainly one of the better achievements this year. I mean, sure, you lost the National Championship Game in a horrific manner that obvious haunts you to this day, but the SEC Championship is...nice too.

I'm sure there's some sort of trophy or something. It's not as famous as the crystal football, but I'm sure it's really...nice too.

What a high opinion you have of your team. I thought Alabama and LSU were clearly the two best teams in the country. Too bad you didn't feel the same.
