The 2013 Sugar Bowl the Sooner defense had no answer for Derrick Henry. He ran for 100 yards on 8 carries and watching that game we wondered why Saban didn't lean on him more when McCarron wasn't getting it done.

Was it because he was just a freshman?

Most often when a young RB doesn't get more time it's because they lack in pass blocking.

Basically when he went to Alabama he told Saban they just handed him the ball and told him to run. So they had to teach him everything.

his consistency as a bell cow RB when thats not even a thing in the NFL anymore, and most importantly his durability and longevity make him the goat.

This.

He's not the same type of RB like Walter Payton was and maybe not like Emmit Smith but he is kind of a durability freak like Smith is.

OSU couldn't stop him either the year after that, but Kiffin wouldn't keep feeding him.

In those 2 Sugar Bowls he had 21 carries for 195 yards and 3 receptions for 115 yards. 2 TDs. 24 touches for 310 yards.

He actually is a surprisingly good pass catcher for his size and run style.

Henry is kinda tGOAT. A dude that big and fast with no signs of slowing down is a mathematical anomaly

I remember when some SEC teams only wanted him as a LB, but he wanted to play RB.

To be fair to those other teams, he probably would have been an awesome linebacker, too.

That was Will Muschamp.

Grew up in a UF family, in a UF area and Muschamp fumbled it.

That's not even remotely debatable. It's not even particularly close. At all.

Saban brought in Lane Kiffin to analyze Bama's offense. Kiffin told him his best player was on the damn bench too much.

2014 >> Kiffin is Bama's OC.

That is funny as shite. I hate that Saban retired, but I also love it so he can do what he is doing. So many good stories, great insight and his typical on point perspective

You do have those rare all around athletes who could do it all, and you have to think, as tough as Derrick Henry is, he would be able to play LB, too.

For some reason, I keep thinking Georgia wanted him as a LB, too. Some thought he was making a mistake by insisting on playing RB, and that he would make a bigger impact as a LB. It's amazing how a little time can shed a little more light on a subject.

In fairness, Herschel Walker played at Lincoln County High School that was, I think a Class B team....which is now A.

Back in the day, Georgia classifications were:
AAA
AA
A
B
C
Private Schools

Now, Class A is the lowest, I think, and it goes up from there...to 6A?

I wonder if he would have got used much in 2015 if it had been up to Kiffin.

It seemed to me that Kiffin wanted to run a different offense under Cooper Bateman. And then that fell to shite against Ole Miss, and he gets stuck with Coker and playing a more traditional offense.

But that's just my outside view of the situation and what it seemed like.

Not going to fact check, but I'd bet he'd still have positive results given what he has done in college and the NFL
