Dates are important and some here would rather not talk about dates...Mini camps...

Fact 1: Mini camps for the NFL took place early and mid June. They are very short. Three days in length. They don't all take place on the same dates. That's why some players were able to participate in two different ones. Many of those players were invited but did not sign actual contracts. They only signed waivers in case they were injured at the camp, so that the NFL teams were not responsible for their injury.
Fact 2: The NCAA granting a fifth year was announced on June 23rd. This is after all minicamps were done.
Fact 3: No player who participated in a mini camp knew that the NCAA was gonna grant a fifth year.
Fact 4: Every player who participated in July and August training camps, leading up to and including preseason NFL games knew the NCAA had granted a fifth year.
Fact 5: All of these players could have pursued going back to college and putting their NFL dreams on hold after the minicamps. They chose to continue their NFL dream.
Fact 6: After being cut in July and August training camp, then these players decided they would try to go back to college.
Everything here is true. Argue all you want, but these are facts.

What about someone who signed a UDFA contract after the draft and did not practice or play?

Right, and that's when you do the legal stuff. But to show you really would have stayed, quit the NFL and do the legal stuff only.

Probably caught up with the other players you signed that did all of that. I doubt we'd be here if that were the only player you pursued.
I'll be honest. This is a really weird hill for LSU to choose to die on. These players aren't likely to make a huge difference.
The problem, from what I've read, is that this opens the door for this to be done again in the future. Nothing in the ruling says a player can't do this exact same thing next year.

Interesting that you completely left out the fact that the 2022 class didn't receive their injunction until the end of July.

I think this board is overblowing this point. Up until the rosters are turned in tomorrow, LSU really hasn’t done anything. It’s all on these players until they are rostered by LSU.

Except these players were excluded. Kind of negates your entire premise, huh?
NM...I see your idea is the kids should've given up the only sure thing they had going on (NFL) at the hope the Injunction would be granted 2 months later. maybe. hopefully. Just in case.

Your facts aren't facts. The class of 2022 was specifically excluded from the new rule. They were even specifically excluded well before it was officially passed. The NCAA had been fighting a 5 for 5 class action lawsuit since the previous September. They drug their feet, fought the rule, and then did an about face and made it official after extra hurdles had been erected to stop the 2022 class from being included. The language of the new rule, which already excluded the class of '22, was known as early as May 1st, and then they waited another 6 or 7 weeks, making it harder to fight in a timely manner. Those players players had no idea if or when they might get a chance at a 5th year.
Nobody was going to just drop their real time career plans on the chance they might win a court ruling in the next two months. The onus of what happened at all of your dates is on the NCAA for not making the rule official earlier.

* Sterling Webb: participated in the Buffalo Bills rookie minicamp. He returned to Missouri and has been ruled eligible.
Texas
* Cole Hutson: attended rookie minicamps with both Cleveland and Dallas after going undrafted.
Kentucky
* T.J. Harden is the most interesting Kentucky case. He actually played in an NFL preseason game for Seattle, receiving two carries against Dallas, before being waived. Kentucky subsequently became one of the schools pursuing him.
Oklahoma
* Braxton Fely had an NFL opportunity after Boise
LSU
*5,346 players including Patrick Mahomes and Dake Maye are starting for the tigers and therefore taking the starting roles of infants with immingant status. Lane Kiffin spit on a Ukrainian octogenarian female that was participating in men’s sports in LA. Paul finebaum said that Lane is mean.
Drake Maye has the edge over Leavit and Mahomes at this time.
