For those who remember him, he threw a deep fade as well as anyone ever. That's hard pass and he just made it look so easy.
Also had one of the best quotes ever (going off memory) but Spurrier was pretty hard on his QBs and when Danny was asked about it he replied: "I'd rather play for a coach who demanded excellence than one who tolerated mediocrity."
Class act.
Has my respect.

Shane Matthews was 5th on depth chart heading into the 90 season.
As far as danny, he was Tebow before tebow.

Still he won the first sec title came from GHS the hometown kid that walked on and ended becoming 3× first team all sec 2x sec player of the year
He started the fun n gun with doering jackson etc Danny took it to the next level because Shane made it look so appealing to recruits QBs and WRs specifically

Best college QB I ever saw until Joey B

Peyton was a better QB. If he had a better team and coach, he'd have beaten Danny anywhere.

If it was not for Wuerffel, Spurrier would have been just another Coach in the SEC. Weurffel and then Shiny Pants record against Tennessee made His name.

Danny was a great QB and an even better human being. I watched him in high school in FWB. He just dissected defenses. The previous poster is right, he's Tebow Lite. Danny made the Fun-n-Gun hum. He just didn't have the arm strength for the NFL. It was fun to watch him play. I'm probably one of the few people on this board who got to watch him in person play in high school, college and the pros. His old high school coach and former Gator offensive lineman and OL coach, Jimmy Ray Stephens, was a neighbor of mine.

Spurrier revolutionalized the entire sec
He made teams change the way you attacked on offense and the athletes you had to put on defense to defend it.
It took most teams awhile to adapt.
Tenn had as much talent as fla but couldn’t adapt either even with manning at qb
Saban was at the forefront of the defensive movement to counteract spurrier with tough physical man to man defense in the secondary
Not allowing receivers free rein off line of scrimmage
It was pitch and catch by spurrier until then
Spurrier never really adjusted with all the rpo stuff and Saban actually is responsible for ushering in the rpo movement to slow reaction time of his defense it’s why he advocated against it so much
Who will bring the next wave of change?

The good ole days for Florida. Too bad we beat the shite out of y’all almost every year now

He had an excellent spiral and touch on the ball. Somewhat passive which I think would have helped him. A great QB that’s somewhat over looked now.

I think one of the reasons he doesn't get as much respect as deserved is because it's so damn hard to spell his last name.
True, If his last name was something like Boone, Smith, Jones, Bono, Jack or Mann he would be remembered by more people. He was one of our best.

After that.... not so much.
Burrow could totally bomb as a pro and it wouldn't take away from his 2019 season

Agreed. Better person than he was a player. And that's saying a lot.
