The assumption is that the money will keep coming.

But lets get real here. They are probably getting cash on every visit to every school.

So what happens when the recruits that took money here but didn’t sign with Tennessee start getting named? Does the NCAA investigate the schools that outbid the Vols?

Some of the campus visits were not organized, or not above board, but they they were handing out cash...Bagmen, they put the cash in McDonalds bags, and handed it to the recruit. They were so in your face with it. Tennessee got sloppy, Georgia has gotten sloppy, but there has been no word on the NCAA and Georgia. But Tennessee, they got sloppy."
So, two former long time Saban assistants

Wonder where they got the idea? Difference is, Saban isnt fricking dumb enough to use McDonalds bags

I mean, are we all going to pretend this sort of grease the wheel behavior isn't prevalent with every school that regularly recruits at an elite level?

The difference is most are smart enough to do it discretely and not behave like a bull in a china shop.

Am I the only one who is seriously skeptical of Dan Patrick here? This sounds made up.

ETA: like why bother with a McDonald's bag of all things?

I don't think he's making it up, nor do I think his "source" is making it up. I do think that, like with most things in this gray area, there is some truth and some falsehoods in it.

He's leaving for a reason. You can see this storm coming for miles. That golden parachute is gonna be springing some serious leaks and I'm going to predict a very rough landing for this guy completely void of any semblance of character.

I mean this sounds like the kind of story message board fans make up.

I have trouble believing professionals would do this. Even if the football coaches themselves are reckless, I would expect the boosters behind the money to be more intelligent.

Not all of us, but there are a lot here that think that their school isn't doing this.

I don't think they were handing out $100,000 in McDonalds bags. I think the days of that sort of large scale transaction stuff are long past. I think that small amounts of money are absolutely passed along in recruiting and then once kids are on campus, discreetly and by various people in various capacities.

McDonalds bags? I dunno, how reckless is it if you aren't getting caught? Kid gets Uber Eats delivered and there are 5 stacks of $100 bills in there. Not saying this is how it happened, but if you are paying kids cash (which is how everyone knows is the best way to do anything to stay off the grid) you gotta get them the cash somehow, right?

Fulmer is 70. He’s going to move back to his home in Maryville and enjoy retirement. He will just fade into the background and show up at a couple games a year, and maybe speak every so often at events.
