You gotta give credit where credit is due. He's hard to figure. One year his QBs have the wrong play arm bands on, another year one player throws a shoe to lose a game for his team, and Mullen decides not to play his best player.

Mullen goes from looking competent to looking completely lost.

This also describes Kirby during the course of a football game.

I can’t imagine how embarrassing it must be to have not won a championship in a big 3 sport in 30 years.

Probably just as embarrassing as getting beat 55-20 on National Television in a NY6 game? That would be my guess.

While true he has shown improvement. Shall we go over kick 6 and a couple of other questionable things Saban has done? They all screw up some time, but Mullen has been a coach for a bit longer than Kirby. I mean, who sits a star player in a huge game like that? Maybe it has been done, but I don't recall it ever being done.

And Mullen is considered a great coach by many on here.

It was a great gameplan. He pulled one out of the Spurrier playbook where you run the same play over and over until the other team stops it.

That was the single worst defensive scheme I've ever seen from Kirby. It wasn't a case of good calls but the players not executing; those RBs were wide arse open every time they called the wheel.

On the flip side, Monken called a great game but the dynamic duo of Bennett and Mathis missed several wide open TD passes. That was the difference. Florida hit their open passes and Georgia missed theirs. Something tells me that replacing Kyle Trask with Emory Jones and Bennett/Mathis with JT Daniels will go a long way to flipping that script.

I bring this up every time this is mentioned, but I still can't believe Mullen was just given a pass for that decision.

We all talk about the shoe, but no one ever seems to really question why Pitts wasn't in that game (and I still think we should).

He just stole Saban/Sark's plan of moving the WRs to not give our defense enough time to recognize the pattern match and then added in the wheel route. Still a great game plan obviously as it worked to perfection most of the game.

Dan Mullen trying to act like Spurrier. Dan Mullen is no Steve Spurrier. I actually loved Spurrier and respected him as a coach. Dan Mullen is just a weird arse clown.

Sure seems like a lot to read into the simple comment: didn't they say that last year. I mean, all that press narrative out of those 6 words. Talk about putting words into someone's mouth...

Mullen is the least likeable head coach in the SEC and has been for some time.

Are you saying it’s a false implication?

Just ask your parents about their parents and grandparents, how they felt for the 90 years Florida didnt have one.

Pre September 2nd everyone had Georgia winning the East, so we had to hear all summer how UGa was still king of the East. Post Sept 2nd some of the writers switched to Fla with the opt out of Newman and according to whatever poll this is

LINK

Florida nipped Georgia in the voting for East champ. Georgia did get more votes than Florida for winning the overall SEC crown, so IDK.

Florida was selected to win the SEC Eastern Division with 624 points, including 53 first-place votes, while Georgia was second with 613 points and 43 votes to win the division.”

So what you are saying is that Mullen is lucky the media didn’t check their notes from 10 months ago.

First of all the Oklahoma game was embarrassing, but because we had so many opt outs and our fire power was gone. Selfish players took a dump on their team mates.

2021 will surprise folks cause the offense will still be strong but with more rushing ability and Emory Jones is a lot better than most realize...he has been on campus learning for 3 years and will fool a lot of DBs. The defense will have a lot more depth and the QBs we play against will feel the heat. Dandy JT cant throw if he is prone on the turf.

We all know grantham’s game is sacking the qb, but that didn’t help much last year. Where did this depth suddenly come from?

When Dan the man has his offense humming he usually puts a lot of the running game on the QB in his power spread look. You do sound like this is going to be a common occurrence this season. He also puts his QBs in harm's way in a lot of his Big 12 offensive looks, so, either way, a good backup would definitely be in order as well.

That decision makes no sense at all. It probably cost them the game. Then when you put the shoe throw on top of that. And the play arm bands being the wrong ones against us in 2018 (or 2019, I can't remember)

I hate to throw that in Florida fans faces...I mean it's over and done with. But that was a horrible call and there is no excuse for that decision.
