Always was and still is!

It doesn't matter whether he actually received the money or not

It didn't then. Had he signed with Miss State it would have. There was never an issue with Auburn, that's why he played every game. I am glad to know he's STILL on your mind after all this time.

Wrong! Once Momma or Daddy ask for money the player can never play again.

The excuse that Auburn Attorneys used was "Cam didn't know about it" Of course anyone with a brain knows that isn't true. He was all set to go to MSU until his dad told him no. You are going to Auburn. Cam wanted to play for Mullen, his OC at Florida. To pretend that daddy didn't tell Cam that he couldn't play for Mullen because we asked for money is ludicrous. Of course according to the NCAA rules, it had never mattered before if a player knew or not. Guess what, It still doesn't. It is still against the rules.

quote:

Oh yeah. So we wasn't "illegal" or ineligible during any game? That's right, I didn't think so

No he was ineligible for the whole season.

The NCAA just let him play anyway.

Auburn was forced to disassociate from Cam's dad and Cam's dad wasn't allowed to attend the SECCG or the NCG. Cam's dad did anyway.

It was a completely big FU to the NCAA and any other player who has ever been found ineligible for signing with an agent, or mom and dad getting a benefit or requesting benefits.

Personally I don't really give a shite, but the facts are Cam should have not been allowed to play football his Jr year for ANYONE.

In the end MSU did not get sanctions either because after the NCAA reinstated Cam, MSU argued that they couldn't be held responsible for their boosters/Cam's dads actions if the NCAA decided that Cam was eligible. The whole thing was a complete clusterfrick.

Even Miami, was successful in not receiving severe penalties after this case and based off of the results of it.

If you want to know what has really reopened the wild wild west of recruiting violations concerning boosters not being enforced against schools it is the Cam Newton Saga.

Yet the FEDS got involved and found nothing. You know how easy it is to hide money from them? Ask the basketball programs how easy it is to put something over on them.

You are just another idiot that believed everything he read, that was negative, about the story. You ignored John Bond when he said "This is an MSU issue. It's not an Auburn issue" when the story first broke.

The story, that was ignored, was the MSU coaching staff continuing to recruit Cam.........after a former player came to them for money for Cam's signature.

That would have maximum rustle potential.

It's not going to happen but that would be awesome for Alabama fans. It would mean that Swinney to Alabama, when Saban retires, is guaranteed.

There’s more to it than just $ for the buyout, but what makes you think we’re some poor arse school? We have one of the wealthiest ADs in the country.

AU couldn’t afford him, and he has too many morals for that school anyway. They’re more of a Petrino or Kiffin kind of school

I never said Auburn paid him. I never said Auburn did wrong.
I never said the NCAA would or should strip Auburn of that NC. I in fact wrote that the NCAA reinstated him, after Auburn suspended him.

All I said was what is known and factual. By every standard of what has traditionally defined eligibility and amateurism as related to college sports. Cam Newton should have not been allowed to play.
Other players have lost eligibility and other programs have suffered for less than what the Newtons did.

He was a dynamic player and it was fun watching him do his thing, but no one should ever complain about any other player being ineligible.
