That's a sad argument. Do you know how many kids choose to go elsewhere? Regardless, Alabama managed with Amari Cooper.

I agree with this. Also think having him out there is trouble for who ever is the AD at the time. You've got an alum who's had a lot of success at a power 5 so you're tempted to make a hire that few would question. But you have to remind yourself of a few things:

1. He chokes a lot
2. He's been mostly unsuccessful against his school's top rival and the only SEC school he plays regularly.
3. He's played in an inferior league and has been unable to beat the best team in that league regularly.
3. He says things like "Bring your own guts"

Very true. You have to ask your self the question if you are the AD, "Will being at Bama improve his weakness or further expose them?"

Honestly, I don't even believe UA would be able to finish the question without Dabo taking the job. Lake or not.

Nah, Dabo is just the ACC version of Mark Richt. No thanks. Gimme Patterson from TCU.

Hell, I'd take Smart with no HC experience.

Clemson doesn't choke, won 33 in a row over unranked opponents. also beat several SEC schools including Auburn, UGA and LSU, plus Ohio State, and Oklohoam in past 4 years. LSU chokes, consistently overrated every year

LSU has won like 50 something in a row against regular season OOC teams, tell me, how many national titles does Clemson have since the turn of the century? How about conference championships when you lost less than 4 games in that season?

what team in SEC was better than FSU the past 3 years. FSU would have won SEC all 3 years the past 3

Dabo has much better record against top teams than Richt.

Alabama isn't as prestigious as they say or they would have done more prior to Saban.

You mean done more like win 12 national championships and over 20 SEC championships prior to Saban?

Saban had one of LSU's titles though. and Les only won 1 with Saban's players.

LSU wasn't fit enough to hang with Clemson in the 4th in that bowl game, hence the faking cramps to slown down the game, or real cramps

Yeah our recruiting really dropped off under Miles, we only won the SEC undefeated and went back to the NC Game 4 years after that.

Clemson's lone ACC Championship since the turn of the century came when you lost not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR games.

Congrats on your last minute win in the chicken bowl, that DC who constantly lost us games late in games is no longer here.

Swinney hasn't been much better than the guy he replaced.

2003 9 4
2004 6 5
2005 8 4
2006 8 5
2007 9 4
2008 3 3

Division titles: 0

Dabo Sweeny @ Clemson

2009 9 5
2010 6 7
2011 10 4
2012 11 2

Yep, not much better at all.

Nope. He wouldn't even take the job if it was offered. Clemson is better with him than they have ever been in their entire history, and he's not stupid enough to leave and follow Saban. He's got the perfect gig right now.

Revisit this after Saban's replacement is fired in four years.

you mean clutch 4th and 16 win

nah I was only surprised a LSU person said Clemson chokes. LSU has a lot of disappointing losses and laid an egg in national title game

If Mama calls, he will come.

Grew up in Alabama, played for Stallings, assistant at Bama from 93 to 2000.

The delusion is very strong with you if you think he'd stay at Clemson if Bama made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Wait. Didn't Clemson narrowly avoid the repeat violator status in 1990? Major NCAA sanctions themselves in 1983.

and what got Alabama the so called 'prestige' in the first place.

football changed a lot last 10 years, lot of programs tyring to be more competitive than in the past and have nice facilities. there are more options for recruits and I think Clemson is better located to recruit regardless of whose the coach. Saban could have success at any school similar to Meyer.
