what was Alabama doing prior to Saban, not much since 1992.
And is was still far more than Clemson did in the same time period.

Maybe only slightly. He has the two Orange bowls but for the most part he's gone to chicken bowls and Music City bowls. He's coaching in a league where only Clemson and FSU are relevant. In the Bowden years, you had to worry about Miami, BC and Va Tech. Bowden also only lost to Carolina like twice. Dabo gets his arse whipped yearly.

He's kind of been Mark Richt 2.0 but that could be Clemsoning part.

He has 1 hurdle to get over in the ACC and he hasn't been able to yet (FSU), well, outside of 2011 when they won the ACC but still managed to 4 games...

This is the last straw.

Clemson was better during the Bowden years than Alabama prior to 2008.

Clemson was better in the 80's than Alabama 92 until Saban.

only reason he would go back is if he has some kind of loyalty to his home state and his college. he's been at Clemson most of his adult life and it was school that gave him the opportunity.

Alabama isn't as prestigious as they say or they would have done more prior to Saban.

Dabo would crawl naked to Tuscaloosa just for an interview.

As a general rule, I dislike hiring alums. It can get messy when things go south.

As far as Dabo is concerned... he's shouldn't be under consideration until he wins an ACC championship and finishes in the top 5 and reels in consistent top 5 recruiting classes.

never go full homer

Dabo has said before he likes to blossom where he's at.

I don't care if he leaves or not, Clem will get somebody decent to replace if he does

That is about the oddest comparison of years I've seen in a while.

To be fair, he won the ACC in 2011...

But it's the ACC so there you go...

I agree with this. Also think having him out there is trouble for who ever is the AD at the time. You've got an alum who's had a lot of success at a power 5 so you're tempted to make a hire that few would question. But you have to remind yourself of a few things:

1. He chokes a lot
2. He's been mostly unsuccessful against his school's top rival and the only SEC school he plays regularly.
3. He's played in an inferior league and has been unable to beat the best team in that league regularly.
3. He says things like "Bring your own guts"

The Clemson delusion up in here is pretty funny. Dabo will make your heads spin if Bama says the word. I won't be surprised if they don't, but if you think otherwise, you should put the homer pipe down and come back to reality.

I wonder why Sammy Watkins and Deshuan watson went to Clem instead of Alabama.

it is about the coach. Saban has a good rep, it isn't about Bama itself.

Dabo has better QB at Clemson than Bama's current one and the one last year.

Clemson doesn't choke, won 33 in a row over unranked opponents. also beat several SEC schools including Auburn, UGA and LSU, plus Ohio State, and Oklohoam in past 4 years. LSU chokes, consistently overrated every year

Then that word doesn't mean anything. Every major program is going to experience woes.
